Short drive to local shopping
Set between the Dog River and a busy retail area on Satchel Paige Drive, Navco’s location is the draw. The community is close to Interstate 10, offering access to downtown Mobile and surrounding areas. “The biggest thing is that it’s close to some major shopping areas,” says Realtor Aleta Boudreaux with Azalea Real Estate Agency, who has sold homes for over 40 years. “Access to that area and being right between the highways makes it a really convenient location.” With that desirable position in the city, residents of Navco don’t have to choose between being close to local amenities or close to the water.
Ranch-style homes and investment opportunities
Throughout Navco homebuyers can expect to see snug yards lined with tall pine trees, with some backyards extending into local forests and wetlands. Ranch-style homes are the primary offering here in Navco, though styles and building materials vary quite a bit. There are classic brick-sided homes and shingle-style houses that offer more of a coastal vibe. Prices for homes in the neighborhood range from $80,000 to $140,000, with some previously sold homes selling for as low as $30,000. Many homes offer opportunities to renovate homes for personal use, resale or rentals, notes Realtor Jennifer Ballard with Bellator Real Estate, who’s sold homes for 10 years. “It is a more transitional area, but there are more and more people interested in investing with its location,” Ballard says. Heavy storms and hurricanes are common in Mobile, so homes in Navco are susceptible to flooding.
Ranch-style homes, built between the 1960s and 1980s, are the dominant housing style in Navco.
