A suburban community in central Moline
Located in central Moline, Rockview Estates offers a wealth of midcentury style homes near a shopping center, local schools and a public library. With Interstate 74 running along the community’s western edge, it’s great for commuters who need to hop on the highway. It’s also just a mile from Quad Cities International Airport, so locals will get used to seeing planes taking off and landing throughout the day. “This is a family-friendly neighborhood that’s right next to an elementary, middle and high school. You’ll see lots of kids out in the afternoon riding bikes and playing,” says Realtor Andria Molina of Exp Realty, a Moline resident who grew up in the neighborhood.
Midcentury properties
There are several residential communities and subdivisions here, including the neighborhood’s namesake Rockview Estates, which features a mix of ranch homes, split-level homes and some two-story homes with attached garages, paved driveways and manicured yards. The homes in this area have large lot sizes that range from 7,000 to 10,000 square feet, so residents will have lots of room for gardening with local flora or hosting a backyard barbecue. There are also a few residential streets that border the shores of Rock River, showing off views of gentle currents and wetland wildlife. Home prices in the area can range from as low as $75,000 for older homes in need of improvements to upwards of $300,000 for larger, well-maintained homes with large yards.

There are several shopping plazas within the neighborhood, including Rock River Plaza where residents can pick up everything they need at Walmart and Lowe’s, or swing by fast-food chains like Chick-fil-A and Panda Express. At the north end of Rockview Estates, there’s a commercial strip on Avenue of the Cities that provides locals with easy access to a Hy-Vee Grocery Store and Aldi. Those looking for some indoor exercise will find what they’re looking for at Top Shape Gym, while Highland Park Bowl makes for a great place for a night out with friends. Nearby, locals can grab a table at Montana Jacks, a local steakhouse with western aesthetics, or cool off with a cone at Whitey’s Ice Cream. South Park Mall, an indoor mall, is just west of the neighborhood and offers department stores like JCPenney and Dillard’s.

Schools and the local library
Young students can attend nearby Roosevelt Elementary School, which holds a C-plus rating from Niche, while upperclassmen attend Woodrow Wilson Middle School, which holds a B-minus rating, and Moline High School, which holds a B-plus rating. Moline High School offers plenty of options for aspiring artists and musicians, including a wide array of bands, ensembles and choirs. In 2019, the school opened the Bartlett Performing Arts Center, a state-of-the-art theater with 800 seats. For those in search of a good book, the Moline Public Library is also in the neighborhood, and serves as a gathering place for the community.

Greenvalley Park and other recreational opportunities
While there are no parks within Rockview Estates, Greenvalley Park is just a few miles away. At 358 acres, it offers plenty of amenities for residents to enjoy, including miles of trails, rolling meadows, playgrounds, athletic fields and a boat launch on Rock River. For indoor activities, Two Rivers YMCA is about two miles from the neighborhood. There, residents and their families will find plenty of programs to partake in, from swim lessons and group exercise classes to youth and adult sports.
Rockview Estates is served by several Metro routes, which provide access to the Quad Cities.
Getting around Moline
Rockview Estates' location near Interstate 74 makes it a great place for those who need to commute — it’s about 3 miles to downtown Moline and about 9 miles to Davenport. The neighborhood is also served by several bus routes for those who prefer public transit.
