Growing suburb with popular shopping center and well-regarded schools

Growing rapidly from the crossroads of Interstate 75 and Route 129 in southwest Ohio, Liberty is a former farming community that’s become a suburban haven along a now-booming Dayton-Cincinnati corridor. “Liberty was one of the original townships when Ohio became a state in 1803, and it’s been growing ever since,” says Paul Stumpf, the President of the Liberty Township Historical Society. “I like to say, we used to raise corn, and now we raise houses. It’s one of the last frontiers where you can still find newly constructed, upscale homes where you’re just far enough from the city to enjoy a rural, suburban setting but have all your urban amenities." Over the past two decades, Liberty’s population has grown from 23,000 to more than 43,000 and the township projects that once it's entirely built out, that will almost double to 80,000 residents. While the population continues to change, a few things remain the same about Liberty: people come from all over the Cincinnati area to take advantage of the shopping and dining at Liberty Center, the Lakota Local School District is well regarded in the area, and Liberty Township events bring the community together.

Drinks and shopping at Liberty Center

Liberty Center provides the neighborhood with a plethora of shopping and dining options. “Liberty Center has a big Santa parade every November. It’s a huge place, filled with big and boutique stores and lots of restaurants. And in the middle is a new concept called a DORA where you can enjoy open alcoholic drinks while you shop,” Stumpf says. Liberty’s DORA, or Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, is open daily from noon to midnight. Liberty Center provides retail shoppers with stores like Dillard’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Old Navy. Shoppers looking for sales can head to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets, 6 miles from the neighborhood. Shooter’s Sports Grill is a place where customers can enjoy kicking back and watching a game with burgers and wings. Cozy’s Café is another popular spot to grab a bite. “Cozy’s Café is my favorite,” Schwarber says. “It’s the cutest, it has rustic décor and has live music on the weekends.“ Cozy’s Café is known for its fresh American favorites, extensive craft beer selection and wine menu.
