A neighborhood steeped in history and filled with cultural attractions
Downtown Montgomery is steeped in history. It’s where Rosa Parks took a stand by sitting at the front of a bus and Hank Williams started his career as one of the most influential country music artists of the 20th century. "Montgomery is rich with history, especially the Civil Rights Movement," says Britt Dowling, a Realtor with Wallace and Moody Realty. "You'll find historical markers all over the place and the Rosa Parks memorial statue can't be missed." Today, the area offers an array of contemporary amenities while maintaining its historic charm. There are fascinating museums, the scenic riverwalk, an impressive collection of retail stores and restaurants and housing that blends the past and the present.
