Sought-after Moorestown neighborhood
Northwest Estates is an esteemed neighborhood adjacent to the Moorestown Field Club, a members-only golf and tennis facility. "Northwest Estates has always been a desirable neighborhood," says Melissa Young, a real estate salesperson with Compass New Jersey, LLC., who has nearly 30 years of experience in the industry. Spacious million-dollar homes sit on roomy lots hidden behind the tree line, while nearby green spaces cater to kids and adults. “Moorestown is considered one of the more affluent areas in South Jersey,” says John Wuertz, manager director and broker associate at Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach. “We have a vibrant downtown area with local shops and bakeries, highly rated schools, well-maintained green spaces and many community events.” About 14 miles from Philadelphia, Northwest Estates offers an elevated suburban lifestyle with stately homes and nearby entertainment. “Many residents here have been around for generations, but we also see a lot of corporate executives from Philadelphia settling down in neighborhoods like Northwest Estates,” Wuertz says.
Spacious million-dollar estate homes
Northwest Estates features quiet streets canopied by mature maple, magnolia and oak trees. Lush, landscaped lawns lead to spacious estate homes on large lots. Architectural styles include classic Colonial Revivals, New Traditionals, Georgian Colonials with symmetric entryway columns, Mediterranean-style homes with stucco facades and modern designs with sleek black accents. Almost every home is different, and many are custom-built. Two-to-three-car attached garages and fenced-in backyards with patios and in-ground pools are the norm. Double chimneys are a common design element, as are wrap-around driveways. “Sales prices typically range from just over $1 million to over $2 million,” Young says, while pointing out that the average home value hovers around $1.5 million. However, several smaller properties can sell for less than $1 million. The neighborhood garners a CAP Index score of 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

Hitting the green at Moorestown Field Club
Moorestown's Parks and Recreation Department maintains over a dozen parks, recreation areas and open spaces, while several golf courses sit within a 15-mile radius of the neighborhood. Open spaces feature wooded hiking areas or grassy fields like Swedes Run Fields & Dog Park. Closer to home, Pompeston Park features unmarked creekside trails that lead to George C. Baker Elementary. Maple Dawson Park offers several sports courts that host summer youth basketball leagues, a playground and a picnic area across from the school. Northwest Estates residents are also less than 2 miles from Frank Fullerton Memorial Park. A large castle-themed playground, a tot lot and a handicap-accessible swing make it one of the town's most popular parks.Residents are within blocks of Moorestown Field Club, a town landmark established in 1892. This private 9-hole golf course also features six tennis courts and a clubhouse dining room. Across the street, the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown has served as another community gathering place since 1888.

Main Street’s establishments and events
Northwest Estates residents are about 2 miles from Moorestown's historic Main Street. Local establishments include coffee shops, eateries, boutiques and beauty salons. Red brick sidewalks give way to outdoor patios shaded by umbrellas. Young notes that in the summer, Main Street's crowded cafes are reminiscent of Europe, inundated with patrons enjoying leisurely morning coffees, lunches and dinners. Crowd favorites include The Cubby Hole's twist on classic brunch items like Tres Leches French Toast, the Pie Lady Cafe's freshly baked pastries and Moore Bagel's homemade cream cheese. “Akira also has amazing sushi,” Young says. Tucked between pizzerias and bakeries, Akira Moorestown is a small-scale Japanese steakhouse that serves a mix of Asian-fusion cuisine, ranging from hibachi, sushi and sashimi to Pad Thai, Lo Mein and General Tso's chicken. Due to Moorestown's long history as a dry town rooted in Quaker values, most restaurants offer BYOB policies. Down the street, residents gather on the Moorestown Community House's front lawn for summertime concert series, annual fundraisers and other festivities. The Moorestown Business Association sponsors some of the town's largest events. Residents ring in the holiday season every November with the Main Street Candlelight Stroll, whensparkling holiday lights illuminate the night sky as horse-drawn carriages glide down the road while others vote on the best holiday pie. About 2 miles down East Main Street, Centerton Square features shops like Wegmans, Costco Wholesale and Target. Other establishments include popular retailers and fast-casual restaurants. One of New Jersey's two Topgolf locations sits next door. Three miles from the neighborhood, additional big-box stores surround Moorestown Mall. However, many opt to peruse Cherry Hill Mall's 165-plus retailers, which include Macy’s, Nordstrom, Apple and Forever 21. Residents can also shop locally at the Flying Feather Farm, a family-owned farm market about 3 miles from Northwest Estates.

Center City and Manhattan commuters
Sidewalks and proximity make it possible to walk or bike to Main Street. However, Northwest Estates' sprawling suburban landscape make it a car-dependent community. About 5 miles north, the Riverton light rail station connects commuters to Philadelphia's Center City. Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital sits 6 miles southwest, and Philadelphia International Airport is 23 miles away. Many residents also make the 85-mile commute to Manhattan via Interstate 95. Other significant thoroughfares include New Jersey State Route 38, Route 90 and Interstate 295.
