Located 6 miles from the Delaware River's banks and 15 miles from Philadelphia's Center City, West Moorestown is a popular residential neighborhood known for its historic charm, highly-rated schools and low CAP Index score of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4. "There's the east side of Moorestown, where you have large estate homes on the cusp of farmland, and then there's the west side of Moorestown with historic homes and proximity to Main Street," says Melissa Young, a real estate salesperson with Compass New Jersey, LLC., who has nearly 30 years of experience in the industry. "West Moorestown is specifically one small neighborhood on the west side." Once little more than an agricultural Quaker community, West Moorestown blends suburban convenience with urban proximity in a quaint small-town setting.

Most properties feature attached garages and roomy lots large enough for fenced-in backyards and in-ground pools. Strolls around Strawbridge Lake
West Moorestown residents have a short walk to the 70-acre Strawbridge Lake Park. "It's one of my favorite spots to walk along the water," says John Wuertz, managing director and broker associate at Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach. Patches of greenery are scattered around the park, attracting dog walkers, anglers and kayakers. Although there are no sidewalks, Wuertz notes the area is not typically subject to heavy automobile traffic.
Up the road, Memorial Field boasts several sports fields, a quarter-mile racetrack that encircles one of three soccer fields and a multi-war memorial in honor of residents who died in service to the country; the park serves as the site of an annual Memorial Day celebration. Additional green spaces include the wooded 40-acre South Valley Woods Preserve with unmarked trails and the 34-acre Boundary Creek Natural Resource Area, which offers established trails and boardwalks that weave past wetlands and wildlife observation areas on the east side of town. Stokes Hill is another open space and popular sledding hill 1 mile from the neighborhood, and Frank Fullerton Memorial Park's castle-themed playground draws year-round crowds.

Shopping, dining and entertainment on Main Street
Restaurants, cafes, bakeries and boutiques line Moorestown's vibrant Main Street, less than a mile from the neighborhood. Outdoor seating areas are scattered along red brick sidewalks, enticing patrons to enjoy leisurely morning coffees. "The Cubby Hole and the French Press are popular cafes," Young says. "They're right in the middle of town, and everyone hangs out on the patio all summer long." Then there's the Pie Lady Cafe, where breakfast crowds gather for hearty American classics, homemade pies and fresh scones. Coffee shops outnumber bars and breweries for a good reason. "Moorestown was a dry town until last year," Wuertz says. "Liquor licenses are rare; that's why all the restaurants are BYOB." The Community House of Moorestown is another Main Street landmark. This stately 1900s brick building serves as a community gathering place for summer concert series on the front lawn, holiday tree lightings, annual fundraisers and meetings for local clubs and nonprofits. Other annual events include Moorestown Day, when attendees can peruse food and craft vendor stalls along Main Street, enjoy live music and chat with neighbors. Centerton Square features big-box stores like Target, Wegmans and Costco Wholesale, 3 miles from the neighborhood. The shopping center borders a Lockheed Martin facility, a major regional employer. West Moorestown residents are also nearly equidistant from East Gate Square and Moorestown Mall. Cherry Hill Mall offers a more extensive shopping selection about four miles east. A few family farms are still scattered around town. "Flying Feather Farm is the most popular farmstand around," Wuertz says. "They have amazing rotisserie chicken." Flying Feather also sells fresh produce, plants, dairy products and canned goods.
