In the heart of rural Pennsylvania
Tucked away in the hills of eastern Pennsylvania lies the peaceful community of New Morgan. Consisting of the village of Morgantown in southern Berks County, this neighborhood has a long history and features more amenities than one might expect due to the Pennsylvania Turnpike passing through the middle of town. Farmhouses from the 1700s, horse-drawn carriages, a casino and a Walmart coexist in New Morgan. “The area is blanketed in dairy farms, fields of corn and soybeans; it is truly a beautiful setting,” says Carol Donahue, Library Director of the Village Library of Morgantown and longtime resident of the neighborhood. “It’s a quaint, small community, but quickly growing.”

1700s homes and new builds
While there is a plethora of historic housing in the community, newer homes are more frequently found on the market. Single-family architecture includes mid-1900s ranch styles, late 1700s stone farmhouses and post-2000 Colonial Revival-style homes. Prices generally range from around $300,000 to $700,000. Townhomes have sprouted up in recent years, providing more affordable options to those looking to join the small but growing community. This may list between $200,000 and $400,000. “Townhomes and multifamily units being built have grown the community in recent years,” Donahue says. “There’s a draw to many people because New Morgan lies outside of the cities; there’s a peaceful rural aspect to life here.”
