A mature Mount Pleasant community
Hobcaw Plantation is a mature Mount Pleasant community with park-like landscapes and stately architecture. Positioned within Charleston’s sprawling suburb’s coveted interior, homeowners have easy access to some of the city’s best destinations. “The best thing about it is that it's sandwiched between downtown, Sullivans Island and Isle of Palms,” says Jackie Scarafile, a Realtor at Carolina One and a long-time Charleston local. “It’s so close to everything you want.” Regional population growth has increased demand for accessible communities like Hobcaw, where residents have privacy and acreage without sacrificing proximity to exciting amenities and everyday conveniences.

Traditional Southern Craftsman homes
Hobcaw Plantation’s serpentine streets curve past large, landscaped yards and towering homes. “It’s one of the more established neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant. The houses have some distinction to them,” says Angela Miller, Regional Partner of South Carolina. Most are traditional in style with elements of grandeur that nod to colonial and Southern craftsman motifs like shuttered windows, dormers and elaborate stairway entries. Prices range from $650,000 to $2.5 million, increasing with size, upgrades and extra features like pools and docks. Scarafile emphasizes the dwindling housing stock in this sought-after spot, “We're still in such high demand. I don’t know how we're ever going build up our inventory any time soon.”

For a full day outdoors, Hobcaw homeowners head to Palmetto Islands County Park, a marshy getaway carved with tree-shaded trails and long boardwalks with views. The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department is also nearby, hosting youth swim lessons and basketball tournaments.

Cross the Ravenel Bridge into Charleston
Hobcaw is a relatively bikeable area – the streets are wide, slow and uncluttered, allowing residents to easily and safely make their way from one end of the neighborhood to the other. Downtown Charleston is a 10-mile ride away, a daily commute for many who cross the Ravenel Bridge to the city’s corporate offices and medical centers on workdays. Interstate 526 runs along the neighborhood’s east side, connecting locals to the city and Daniel Island in the other direction.
