All of Rivertowne's amenities plus golf course views
Rivertowne Country Club is a subsection of the upscale Rivertowne community in north Mount Pleasant. Like the rest of the community, It features Lowcountry-style homes on manicured lawns, suburban convenience and proximity to the Wando River. However, residents also get bigger lawns, often backing up to the golf course at the eponymous Rivertowne Country Club.
A mix of Colonial Revival, New Traditional, Lowcountry and Coastal Modern homes
Home styles include Colonial Revival, New Traditional, Lowcountry and Coastal Modern, built after 2000. Most homes have three or four bedrooms, with prices ranging from around $700,000 to just over $1 million. Larger homes, with five or more bedrooms spanning more than 3,000 square feet, range from around $1.2 million to $2.1 million. Karla Leahy, a real estate advisor with Engel & Völkers Charleston who sells throughout Mount Pleasant and Charleston, says one of the neighborhood's draws is its mix of housing options. “You can find something a little smaller at a more favorable price point, and you can find those grand homes on the Wando and the golf course. You have choices,” she says. Homes sit on large, sometimes sprawling lots. Homes along the river often include backyard docks. The neighborhood has a low crime rate, scoring a 1 out of 10 on the CAP Index, three points lower than the national average.
Children attend highly rated Charleston County School District schools
The Charleston County School District serves the area and offers school choice. The schools zoned for the neighborhood Jennie Moore Elementary, Liang Middle and Wando High, which all have A ratings on Niche. At Wando High, over 200 seniors from the class of 2024 were named Charleston County School District Board Scholars because they earned a 4.25 GPA or higher.
Boating, fishing and skiing on the Wando River, golf and swimming at the country club
The Wando River draws boaters, anglers, and anyone looking to get on the water. “It’s so pretty. It’s wide, so it makes boating and skiing fun,” Leahy says. The Rivertowne Country Club features an 18-hole course, and the community amenities center features tennis and pickleball courts, a pool and a playground. The closest green space is Laurel Hill County Park, about 6 miles away. The huge park draws hikers, cyclists, and walkers to its miles of unpaved trails. Leahy says the Park West Recreation Complex is also popular with many residents. “It’s huge and has something like 560 activities a semester. That’s where your kids are going to do cheerleading, tumbling, swim lessons and things like that. Adults join leagues there, too.”
Residents pick up essentials at nearby Mount Pleasant Towne Center
Residents can pick up groceries at Harris Teeter, located in the small shopping center near U.S. Highway 41, or head about 7 miles to Mount Pleasant Towne Center, which is anchored by Trader Joe’s. The popular outdoor mall features big-box stores and a mix of local and chain restaurants. One local favorite is SAVI Cucina and Wine Bar, which serves classic Italian dishes in a casual atmosphere.
Mount Pleasant hosts many annual events
The town offers many events throughout the year, especially in the spring when art lovers gather for the Mount Pleasant ArtsFest and when the weekly farmers market starts. The fall months feature the Children’s Day Festival, where kids enjoy carnival rides, pony rides and live entertainment, and the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch, which runs five consecutive weekends in September and October and includes a family-friendly Halloween tractor tour, a petting zoo and a corn maze.
I-526 and the airport are not far from the neighborhood
South Carolina Highway 41 runs just outside of the neighborhood and connects to U.S. Highway 17. Interstate 526 is also nearby and travels to downtown Charleston. The Charleston International Airport is about 22 miles away.
