Downtown Nampa is a small-town city center with big-city popularity
Located in Boise’s most populous suburb, Downtown Nampa combines bustling city center character with small-town charm. “People walk around and bar hop, but it still has that classic Main Street USA vibe,” says Janie Cypret, a real estate agent with Silvercreek Realty Group who has sold several homes in the area. Sidewalks are lined with young oak trees, vintage lamp posts and early 20th-century brick-façade buildings home to locally owned coffee shops and antique stores. Residents can enjoy the area’s numerous community events, like the monthly block parties or the Saturday morning farmers market.

Locals enjoy daytime eateries, late-night bars and vintage stores
Residents can start their morning at LeBaron’s Honker Café, a cozy spot serving all-day breakfast since 1974. Artsy décor and sourdough-crust pies served by the slice make Messenger Pizza the place to be, with lines often forming around the block at lunch. Those looking for an upscale dinner should stop by Brick 29 Bistro, known for its elevated southern fare like the herb-marinated pork chops smothered in blueberry compote. Craft Lounge next door serves handmade cocktails for after-dinner drinks, and PreFunk Beer Bar on 1st Street is another late-night locale. Gamers can grab vintage consoles at Retro World, and bikers will find a new ride at Cafferty’s Cyclery. Less than 1 mile west on 12th Avenue, Albertsons is the nearest grocery store.

Ample events, from monthly summer block parties to the Nampa Farmers Market
Along 13th Avenue and Front Street, Lloyd Square is home to the Nampa Farmers Market, held every Saturday from April through November. “Lloyd Square is a small pocket park,” says Cypret. “When it's nice out, people eat lunch on the benches.” On Cinco De Mayo, downtown is closed to car traffic, making room for the folkloric dancers, the low-rider car show and the mechanical bull. The third Thursday of every summer month marks another block party-style celebration, with live music, food trucks and themes like beach party or cowboy.

Rollerbladers, historians and readers will find plenty of activity in Downtown Nampa
Downtown Nampa has plenty of indoor community hubs, including the Rollerdome, a local rollerblading rink offering public times and speed skating lessons since 1948. Formerly a hub for those traveling the Oregon Short Line in 1860, The Nampa Train Depot Museum is a Baroque Revival-style building now filled with miniature models and other artifacts from that era. Aside from books and a computer lab, Nampa Public Library has numerous free community groups, ranging from beginner guitar lessons to the crocheting club.
The city center is surrounded by several parks within walking distance. For instance, Lions Park is 2 miles west, and its 15 acres are filled with a basketball court, a softball diamond and sand volleyball courts. It’s also home to the public Lincoln Pool, offering free swim times and lessons. Despite its name, Lakeview Park, 1 mile east, is no longer home to the body of water it was founded around in 1888. But there's still plenty to do at the duck pond, water park or trails alongside Mason Creek.
