A Naperville suburb with a golf course at its heart

Just north of downtown Naperville, Cress Creek residents can enjoy luxury amenities in their backyards. “If you’ve ever dreamed of living on a golf course, this may be your community,” says Amy Pearson, Realtor with Christie's International Real Estate and Naperville resident for over 20 years. Homes here back Cress Creek Country Club, creating a prestigious and private feel. “The course wraps around the community itself,” says Walt Burrell, a broker with Coldwell Banker Commercial and longtime Naperville resident. “People walk to the course from their homes. It’s a golf community.” With a community pool open to homeowners association members and downtown’s best restaurants just minutes away, residents can enjoy Naperville’s quiet suburbs and active downtown.

Cress Creek's country club and community pool

When looking for outdoor recreational space, residents in Cress Creek only have to look into their backyards. Cress Creek Country Club features an 18-hole golf course that runs through the neighborhood and along homes, creating a golfing experience residents can walk to in minutes from their doorsteps. It also offers tennis, pickleball and pool amenities. Cress Creek Commons is the community’s pool, managed by Cress Creek’s homeowners association and accessed by those holding Bathe and Raquet Club Memberships. The local swim team meets and competes at this local pool, but it is also a cool respite in the warmer months. McDowell Grove Forest Preserve runs along the western side of Cress Creek, boasting 7 miles of turf and limestone trails for hiking, biking and even horseback riding. The 22-acre lake is open for fishing, as well as the West Branch DuPage River.

Custom builds featured around the golf course

Cress Creek features a mix of housing styles, so people can find the size and location they prefer. Houses lining the country club feature a mix of siding Colonials and new builds customized to the owner’s taste and personality. Trees hang over the streets, shading the sidewalks and pavement, and add a pop of gold and scarlet in the fall. Lawns are well-kept, with landscaped gardens adding more character to properties. The south side of the neighborhood features condos and townhouses, offering options for people looking for less space and more affordable options still close to the golf course. “The price of homes range from $175,000 for condos and up to $2 million if it backs up to the course,” Burrell says. Most single-family homes not along the course will list between $550,000 and $850,000.

Summer festivals and farmer's markets in downtown Naperville

Most events in Naperville take place downtown, so Cress Creek residents are always just a few minutes from the action. In the summer, Naperville Farmer’s Market brings fresh produce and artisan goods to the train station. Burrell highlights that the summer wine walks are another favorite among locals, where people enjoy food and wine samples provided by downtown businesses. Important to know about living in Naperville

Naperville has a rich and complicated history. During the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s and 70s, residents and activists urged the city to implement more initiatives for civil rights, diversity and fair housing, resulting in responses from leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. Today, people of color comprise 38% of Naperville’s population, highlighting the city’s progress.
