From a farming community to a bustling Minneapolis suburb
New Hope, Minnesota is a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis with a population of about 22,000. The city’s roots are as a farming community, but incorporated as a city in 1953, growing rapidly from 2,500 residents in 1958 to 24,000 in 1971. Since then, the suburb has become a bustling community supported by a number of industries, particularly manufacturing, healthcare and retail. “It’s busy,” Realtor Dan Salamone of LPT Realty says of New Hope. “There’s a lot of restaurants and shops, a lot of houses. But you don’t have to go too far to get to anything. There are a lot of things to do in a very small area.”

Most of New Hope was built up in the mid-20th century and the architecture reflects that, with lots of ramblers and split-levels. Most homes range between $200,000 and $450,000, depending on age and size.
