Tucked along the Delaware River near the border of New Jersey is the township of Solebury, Pennsylvania. Boasting a population of just over 8,600 people, Solebury offers residents spacious homes and top-rated schools.
“This area has a quintessential small-town feel,” says Sarah Peters, Realtor with Keller Wiliams Real Estate-Doylestown. “It’s a safe place to live.”
On a drive through Solebury, you’ll see a number of stone houses and churches that reflect the area’s rich history that dates back to colonial times. You’ll also see plenty of active farms, reflecting the prominent agricultural heritage. Solebury has a wide array of architectural styles, including colonials, cottages, Cape Cods and contemporary transitional-style homes. Homes here tend to be spacious, averaging upwards of 2,500 square feet and often perched on lots ranging from a half-acre to multiple acres. You can get a two-bedroom cottage for around $500,000, a four-bedroom transitional-style home for around $900,000 or a large, four-bedroom Cape Cod for around $1.5 million. According to Peters, homes are selling quickly if the property is in good condition and in the hands of a good agent.
Kids in Solebury attend schools in the sought-after New Hope-Solebury District, which include New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School, New Hope-Solebury Upper Elementary School, New Hope-Solebury Middle School and New Hope-Solebury High School. New Hope-Solebury High School receives an overall grade of A from Niche, with notably high rankings in the categories of academics, teachers, sports and college prep. The school is known for strong engagement in activities and clubs, with many options for students to choose from, including the Environmental Club, Mask & Zany Theatre Club and Robotics Club.
Enjoy an afternoon outside at Laurel Park, located on Sugan Road. This well-maintained public park features baseball fields, soccer fields and pickleball courts. The full-service snack stand and picnic area make for a great place to eat al fresco, and kids can enjoy the park’s playground. Canal Path Park, paralleling the Delaware River between Easton and Bristol, offers a 58-mile-long towpath with scenic views of the water, a 50-acre pond and historic town buildings.
When hunger strikes, head to New Hope Star Diner on Route 202. This highly favored local institution is open 24 hours. Hunker down in a booth or take a seat on one of the swiveling black barstools to enjoy homey staples like omelets, BLTs and burgers. If you’re craving sushi, head down the road to Wild Ginger on Market Place for fresh fish and Asian Fusion cuisine.
Fill the fridge at GIANT in Logan Square or McCaffrey’s Food Market on Bridge Street. Small shopping centers such as Logan Square are dispersed throughout Solebury, making it easy to pick up local gifts and essentials nearby. When you want to shop at larger retailers, head 18 miles south on Route 202 to arrive at familiar stores like Costco and Target.
Solebury’s blend of rural character, natural beauty and access to amenities makes it an attractive place to call home. When you want to get to the energy and art of vibrant Philadelphia, head 40 miles south to land in the heart of the city.
