Right out of a Hallmark movie
In addition to the seemingly endless acres of soybean, wheat, and sunflower fields in Lynn Township, Pennsylvania, there’s a celebratory sense of community. Comprised largely of farmland, residents here take great pride in their agrarian heritage as evidenced by events like the high school’s annual “Drive Your Tractor to School Day.” “People have commented that the area is kind of like a Hallmark movie,” says Don Billig, owner and broker of Northwest Territory Real Estate Services, who has been selling homes in the area for 40 years. “When the boys’ soccer team won the state championship last year the town threw an impromptu little parade. People turned out on the streets to welcome them home, everyone was honking their horns. That’s the kind of place this is.”
Farmhouses and townhouses on spacious lots
Located 25 miles west of Allentown via Interstate 78, those looking to move to Lynn Township will find homes built anywhere from the late 1800s to the modern day. They come in a mix of styles, including wooden clapboard farmhouses, ranch-style homes and townhouses. Single-family homes typically rest on sidewalk-free streets with spacious lots of more than an acre and Blue Mountain views. The median list price here hovers around $350,000. A three-bedroom, four-bath townhome could be found for around $250,000, while a four-bedroom, three-bath, single-family home with an acre runs in the low-$400,000s. “It’s a really strong market. Homes sell in days,” Billig says. “If they’re priced right, they’ll sell right away because the inventory is so low.”

The schools and the community are very close-knit.”

Where sports bring the community together
Other popular pastimes include putting around on the golf course at Old Homestead Golf Club on Route 309 or rooting for the Tigers. “Our boys’ soccer team took first in the state last year. The football team is going to states for the first time this year,” Billig says. “All of the sports teams are strong and all of them are supported — boys and girls. The whole community turns out to the games to cheer them on.”
