Seaside living in Seal Rock
With the distinct sea stacks that parallel the shoreline for nearly three miles, it’s no wonder why it’s called Seal Rock. This Central Coast community features a mix of beautiful beaches, diverse home styles, local restaurants and convenient public transportation.
Basalt rock formations, marine wildlife and nearby beaches
Seal Rock State Recreation Site can be accessed by a paved trail that leads down to the beach. The coast is dabbled with craggy basalt ridges, chief among them is Elephant Rock. So named for its commanding presence, this natural structure is about 20 feet high. When the tide is just right, beachgoers can walk out to some of these mighty natural structures. Beachcombing, fishing and mussel harvesting are just some of the many popular activities here. The site also has several trails and tons of wildlife, from its bird sanctuary to the anemones, starfish and barnacles that live in the tidepools. Occasionally, a seal can even be spotted on the rocks. Less than two miles to the west is Brian Booth State Park, a large green space with access to the marshes and wetlands of the Beaver Creek estuary. According to Audra Powell, a principal broker for Advantage Real Estate who has sold several homes in the Newport area, Ona Beach State Park is another popular spot for beach activities.
Seal Rock Recreational Cite has gravel walking paths throughout the park.

Mix of manufactured homes and single-family properties
Residences are a mix of manufactured homes and single-family properties, several of which are within walking distance of the beach. Constructions often share similar details like vaulted ceilings and septic power, and many sit on sizable lots. “You get more elbow room and more privacy rather than a 50x100 lot that crams you in with your neighbors,” Powell says. Manufactured homes tend to cost between $160,000 to $315,000 while houses with two or more bedrooms can run anywhere between $470,000 and $998,000. Home values have been appreciating since 2024, with average home values beginning around $441,000 and experiencing slow but steady increases.

Local seafood, baked goods and art galleries
The neighborhood is home to several restaurants and shops. Luna Sea Fish House specializes in locally caught salmon and albacore tuna and serves breakfast and lunch options. Powell points out a unique feature of the restaurant: “Their owner is a local fisherman who goes out on his boat, catches a fish, and you get that fish in that restaurant.” Chubby Lil Mermaid Bakery and Gift Shop offers both baked goods and maritime trinkets in a beautiful turquoise interior. Seal Rock Espresso and Bakery includes a drive-through for coffee drinkers on the go. Confection shop Indulge Sweets makes handmade fudge, brownies and more. Seal Rock is also home to several art galleries, including Heart Song, Hauser Gallery and Ocean Beaches Glassblowing and Gallery. The Brian McEneny Woodcarving Gallery features large hand carved wooden sculptures done by the local talent. Grocery shoppers can head to Fred Myer, which is less than twelve miles away in downtown Newport.
