A lively waterfront community by the Old Dominion University campus

Lambert’s Point, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Norfolk, sits between Hampton Boulevard and the Elizabeth River. “Being so close to the Old Dominion University campus helps Lambert’s Point retain a high rental value, and its location makes the neighborhood very lively and attracts younger residents,” says Craig Boyer, a Virginia Beach resident who has been servicing the Tidewater region as a Realtor and investment agent with All/Pros Realty Inc. for over 15 years. “The area is also near Ghent, which has lots of little boutique shops, coffee houses and bars, making Lambert’s Point a very accessible community,”

residential homes by Old Dominion University

In Lambert’s Point, a single-family home with three or four bedrooms can be priced between $200,000 and $350,000. Common housing architecture includes Colonial Revival, Cape Cod, Craftsman, cottages and bungalows with large front porches. The houses tend to be closer together and yard sizes are usually around 5,000 square feet. “This is a nice area in Norfolk with smaller properties; the homes are more affordable than nearby waterfront communities such as Lakewood,” Boyer says. Houses that are in Flood Zone AE often have to purchase flood insurance.
