Quintessential North Quidnessett
North Quidnessett is a coastal neighborhood on Narragansett Bay that is bordered by the Potowomut River to the north and the Mt. View neighborhood to the south. The area is largely rural with winding roads throughout. North Quidnessett is tree-covered and hilly, with a sandy, windswept shoreline. In the fall months, the neighborhood becomes a blaze of colors as the abundant maple, sassafras and black cherry trees turn bright red and orange. But there’s more to North Quidnessett than just a lovely coastline. “Located in the North Kingston area, North Quidnessett is close to everything. It has a good school system, access to sporting events, it’s close to the beaches and there’s a new bike path that everyone seems to enjoy,” says Jack Mayo, a Realtor with RE/MAX Flagship, Inc., who’s lived in the area for more than 20 years. Like most places in the state, the neighborhood has its share of historical places dating from Revolutionary War days and earlier. The Forge Road Historic District includes Forge Farm, the birthplace of Revolutionary War Hero Nathanael Greene and the oldest working farm in Rhode Island.
