Suburban enclave close to the action
The Oak Ridge-Sky Lake area comprises two neighborhoods and is about 8 miles south of downtown Orlando. The community’s northeast and northwest corners are residential, and its center is industrial, home to JBT Aerotech, Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc., and many warehouses. It’s also home to The Florida Mall, the largest shopping center in the state, spanning over a million square feet and attracting over 20 million shoppers every year. With all this activity, newcomers to the area might worry that the Orlando community would suffer from gridlock traffic all hours of the day, but according to David Dorman, a broker and Realtor with Century 21 Professional Group and a Central Florida resident, that isn’t the case. “It’s an older area, which means more stoplights. But the traffic's not unbearable."

Close to The Florida Mall, shopping hubs and restaurants
Along with The Florida Mall, there’s more shopping about 5 miles away at The Mall at Millennia and Orlando International Premium Outlets, two additional, iconic Orlando shopping centers. There are also big box stores just north of the community, including IKEA and Target. Residents have many options for dining out, including La Granja, a family-owned, small-chain Peruvian restaurant that has been serving rotisserie chicken and ceviche for over 30 years. Folks looking for classic Puerto Rican dishes, like mofongo and queso frito, find it at El Cilantrillo, and those wanting the full churrasco experience with fire-roasted meats that are served gaucho style make their way to Adega Gaucha Brazillian Steakhouse.

The Orlando International Airport is also conveniently close, about 10 miles east, but the noise from this busy airport is not an issue. “The area isn’t in the traffic pattern,” Dorman says.
