Three miles east of Downtown Odessa sits one of the city’s flagship neighborhoods, Crescent Park. “It’s a well-established neighborhood with some great architecture,” says John Herriage, a Realtor with Copper Key Realty. “It’s a highly desired neighborhood.” The neighborhood is packed with more than just residential properties. Crescent Park is home to a handful of schools, a few restaurants and Jim Parker Park, which adds to its appeal.

1950s and '60s ranch-style homes on less than 1/4 acre of land
Crescent Park properties are primarily ranch-style and midcentury modern homes with two-car garages built in the 1950s and 1960s. Most houses are between 1,000 and 2,500 square feet and sit on lots less than 1/4 acre. Many have sold for between $100,000 and $300,000. “It’s a good place for investors,” says Thomas McDonald, a Realtor with Starz Realty. “People are buying some of the older homes and renovating them.” Sidewalks line the wide streets of the neighborhood.

Students assigned to the Ector County Independent School District
Crescent Park students attend schools within the Ector County Independent School District. The neighborhood has three elementary schools: Reagan, Dowling and Gonzales. Reagan earns an A-minus grade from Niche, Dowling earns a C, and Gonzalez earns a C-plus. Also in the neighborhood is C-rated Bonham Junior High. From there, students attend C-plus-graded Permian High, whose football team plays at Ratliff Stadium and competes with cross-town rival Odessa High. As for private schools, Montessori Mastery School of Odessa is also in the neighborhood. It serves fourth grade through 12th and earns a B-minus from Niche.

EZ-Rider bus system stops along Grandview Avenue
The Midland Odessa Urban Transit District bus system, otherwise known as EZ-Rider, can be accessed from various stops along Grandview Avenue in the neighborhood. Crescent Park is 3 miles from Downtown Odessa and 19 miles from Midland. The Midland International Air & Space Port is an 11-mile drive away. The nearest hospital, the Medical Center Hospital, is 3 miles away.

Variety of athletic facilities at Jim Parker Park
Jim Parker Park is the only park in the neighborhood. It offers basketball and tennis courts, baseball fields and a playground. Just north of East University Boulevard, Freedom Park has a walking path around a small pond Next door is the Odessa Family YMCA, which offers memberships to use its facilities, including its outdoor park and variety of programs. Royalty Park has a playground, basketball court and baseball backstop just south of the neighborhood. Central Park, just west of Crescent Park, has two baseball backstops, basketball courts and a playground.

From Mi Piaci Odessa to Abuela’s Kitchen
Mi Piaci Odessa is a local Italian restaurant off Grandview Avenue. The family-owned spot offers everything from tortellini alfredo and baked ziti to pizza and calzones. Just south of the neighborhood along Grandview Avenue is Abuela’s Kitchen, a Mexican restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. Chain restaurants nearby include Jason’s Deli, Whataburger, Wendy’s and Sonic. The Music City Mall, 4 miles north of Crescent Park, is anchored by JCPenney and Burlington. There is a Lowe’s Market just south for groceries.

Events at the Ector County Coliseum
Odessa’s Ector County Coliseum, 4 miles northwest of Crescent Park, hosts various events throughout the year. Annually, around Labor Day, the coliseum hosts the Permian Basin Fair & Expo. “It usually takes up 30 to 40 acres of land,” Herriage says. “It’s a very traditional fair with a lot of competitions and is great for foodies because of the local food trucks.” The event also has live music, rides, a petting zoo and other livestock events. The coliseum also hosts concerts and other shows.
Two public golf courses nearby
Residents looking to play a round of golf have a couple of public golf courses north of Crescent Park. Ratliff Ranch Golf Links is 4 miles away. The 18-hole public course also has a restaurant attached, Linx Bar & Grill. The other option is the Sunset Golf Country Club, 8 miles north.
