The neighborhood streets are lined with sidewalks, some reaching a dead end at cul-de-sacs, perfect for kids to play.

Friday Night Lights at Permian High School
Residents of Scottsdale are assigned to the Ector County Independent School District. For kindergarten through fifth grade, children attend Ireland Elementary, which earns a C-plus from Niche. From there, they move on to C-graded Wilson & Young Medal of Honor Middle School. To finish off their K-through-12 experience, students go to Permian High School, which earns a C-plus from Niche. Permian High School’s 1988 football team was the subject of the top-selling Friday Night Lights book that came out in 1991. Permian High’s football team continues to bring the community together on Friday nights in the fall.

Just south of the neighborhood is Optimist Park, another spot where locals can get a tennis match. Children enjoy playing on the playground and utilizing the green space there. For a relaxing walk, Memorial Gardens Park has a pond with a trail that loops around it.

Odessa puts on its 4th of July Fandango every year, an event locals look forward to. The event includes a car show, food and market vendors and fireworks. The Parks Legado Town Center in Odessa hosts a farmers market throughout the summer.
