OKC community on the banks of Lake Hefner

With the majestic waters of Lake Hefner and the wooded trails of Bluff Creek Park just a stone's throw away, the residents of Oklahoma City's Bluff Creek neighborhood are always close to their next outdoor adventure. "Bluff Creek is a big draw for people who like the outdoors and want to utilize all the area has to offer," says Andrea Dillard, Realtor and co-owner of Dillard-Cies Real Estate. "It's a very positive thing to see so many people in that area enjoying the outdoors."

Classic 70s and 80s builds

Dillard notes Bluff Creek is an "established and welcoming community" with Traditional and ranch-style homes built in the 1970s and '80s, giving the neighborhood a quaint, retro vibe. The homes range in size from 1,300 up to 3,000 square feet, and most have three or four bedrooms. List prices range from $210,000 to $375,000. "You can definitely find a great home for under $300,000 in that area," says Dillard. While not quite mid-century modern, Lindsay Greene, a real estate agent with The Agency, explains the neighborhood has a ton of homes built in the 60s, 70s and 80s with a lot of unique stone work with properties that back onto creeks and greenery with its access to Bluff Creek Park. “This neighborhood is very much established. You're going to get a ton of character.”

Putnam City Schools

Students in Bluff Creek attend Putnam City Schools, with kids beginning at Dennis Elementary School, rated B by Niche, moving on to Hefner Middle School, known for its Science Olympiad team, competing in state and nationwide science tournaments, rated B-minus. Teenagers finish off at Putnam City North High School, rated B, which offers numerous student activities, including a competitive esports gaming team. Greene explains that for Oklahoma City families, Putnam offers a lot. “In my opinion, it’s a pretty strong school. And so if someone was moving from out of state to Oklahoma and wanted good school districts, you're not supposed to steer but I would definitely direct them more to like Edmond, Oklahoma if they had young kiddos. But, if they're looking for a little bit more character and a little bit more of an eclectic nature, then I feel like they would do great in this pocket town with the amenities plus the schools are still great.”
