Planned communities surrounded by Oklahoma farmland

Like almost everywhere else in Oklahoma City, Country Place is laid out in an easy-to-navigate grid. This planned community's brick homes, square grassy lawns and retention ponds sits right next to the intersection of Interstate 35 and Interstate 240, taking locals into downtown Oklahoma City and to shopping centers in each direction. “Country Place is a great community to raise kids and whatnot,” says John Upshaw, Realtor with Upshaw Real Estate Group. His family built their home in Country Place and stayed for a decade. “What we liked about it was the location, easy access to the highway, airport and all. We were in a cul-de- sac and within that street of 14 homes was a community within a community. We would host barbeques together as a block.”

Modern Craftsmans and the occasional ranch in Country Place

Homes on the flat Country Place stretch range from ranches on the outskirts with sprawling acres of farmland to French country-style and French Colonial builds. The former will go for give-or-take $450,000, and the latter ranges from $500,000 to $625,000. However, most streets are lined with brick Modern Craftsmans with two or three-car garages, uniform front lawns, and ample backyard space or private docks. Prices for these range from $300,000 to $350,000.

Traversing the OKC grid with ease

Downtown OKC is 14 miles away from Country Place on Interstate 35, which sits adjacent to the neighborhood. Oklahoma Heart Hospital South is an 11-mile drive on I-240. Will Rogers World Airport is the closest of all at 9 miles on S Pennsylvania Avenue. “The nice thing about OKC is that everything is in a grid,” Upshaw says. “I-35 goes north to south, I-40 goes east to west, and they cross each other. From any neighborhood, and give or take with traffic, you can get from one side of the metro to the other within 20 to 25 minutes.”

Country Place convenience stores and nearby shopping centers

A Sonic, a 7-Eleven, and a Casey’s convenience store sit at the intersection of the three subdivisions in Country Place. Locals travel just 1 mile to the Sprouts on S Pennsylvania Avenue or to World Fresh International Market. The latter is next door to several choices for dinner and drinks or lunch with friends in Chatenay Square, including Bricktown Brewery’s southwest OKC location and Italian joint Spazio Ristorante. A stroll down Riverwalk Plaza is in the opposite direction along a short waterway; locals can shop at Costco after eating lunch at Black Bear Diner. For a full day of shopping, OKC’s highly rated Penn Square Mall is an 18-mile trip down Interstate 44.

Westmoore Trails and other parks

Neighbors fish at the retention ponds scattered throughout the community. Besides a pocket park in the neighborhood, locals can drive 3 miles to the nearby Westmoore Trails Park’s playground and firetruck-themed splash pad, or 3 miles in the opposite direction to Earlywine Park and Davis Ballpark.
