Laid-back living on Lake Hefner
On the west bank of Lake Hefner, Lakeaire is a small community of around 175 residences mostly built in the late 1960s and early '70s. “When homes first started being built around the lake, there wasn’t anything else around, but the city has really been built up here since then,” says Ben Scott, a real estate broker and owner at Bloom Real Estate. Today, the neighborhood enjoys easy access to Northwest Expressway and Hefner Expressway, both lined with supermarkets, shopping centers and restaurants. But the main appeal is proximity to the lake and its waterfront park. Realtor Kathy Parker with eXp Realty recommends visiting Lakeshore Park in the evening to watch the sun set over the sailboats. “The sunsets are gorgeous,” she says. “You almost feel like you’re in a beachfront town. It doesn’t feel like you’re in Oklahoma.”
Lakeaire locals love to experience the beautiful harbor at Lake Hefner's East Warf.
