Just west of Lake Hefner, Lakeshore Estates provides suburban living near one of Oklahoma City’s biggest parks. But those who live there don’t give up convenience, as the neighborhood has access to the rest of booming northwest Oklahoma City. “It’s very peaceful since it’s right next to Lake Hefner, but also not too far from the hustle and bustle of the city, since it’s right next to the Northwest Expressway, too ,” says Emilee Rankin, a Realtor with West and Main Homes.

Boating and biking at Lake Hefner
Lakeshores Estates is adjacent to Lake Hefner, and residents use the lake for recreation. “The lake is right across the street,” Rankin says. “You can easily walk or ride your bike there.” Anglers can cast a line from the shore, while boaters head out to enjoy a day on the water. The Bert Cooper Trail circumnavigates the lake, attracting bikers and joggers to its 10-mile loop. Lakeshore Park has a parking lot and trailhead for the paved path. Families often visit Lakeshore Estates Park for its small playground, picnic benches and a grill. Meanwhile, golfers head to the public Lake Hefner Golf Club to tee off near the water.
Driving around the shore at Lakeshore Park is a peaceful activiy.

Ranch-style homes in Lakeshore Estates
Despite the neighborhood name, homes are not directly on the lakefront, with Lakeshore Park between the residential area and the water. Neighborhood streets are flanked by large grassy lawns, with tall maple and oak trees providing shade. Generally built in the 1960s, the one-story ranch-style homes throughout the neighborhood sell between the upper $100,000s and the upper $300,000s . Houses on the upper end of the range have often been more recently updated. “There are some that have been remodeled very recently that go for a little bit more, and some that have really good bones that just haven’t been updated in the last 20 or so years," Rankin says.
Lakeshore Estates is lined with mature trees that provide cool shade during the hot summer.

Shopping centers around the Northwest Expressway
The main commercial corridor for the area lies a mile away along the Northwest Expressway, with restaurants and shopping centers along the highway. Locals can head to the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and the Northwest Expressway where Natural Grocers has food and essentials, while Whataburger and Zaxby’s offer quick eats across the street. Charleston’s Restaurant serves specialties like pork chops and shrimp scampi in a warm interior. “Charleston’s is absolutely perfect for date night,” says Thomas Bernstein, broker associate with KirkAngel. “Everything on the menu is great, but you can’t go wrong with a steak or one of their specialties.” Less than 2 miles away, the Rockwell Plaza Shopping Center has a Target, a TJ Maxx and several other retail outlets.
Not far from Lakeshore Estates is the Rockwell Shopping Plaza.
Lakeshore Estates residents only need to walk a short distance to enjoy Lake Hefner's shores.

Access to routes through northwest Oklahoma City
Lakeshore Estates sits on the west bank of Lake Hefner less than a mile from the Northwest Expressway, main route through northwest Oklahoma City. The expressway leads toward downtown, with the city center about 12 miles away. Wiley Post Airport is 3 miles away but only offers private and chartered flights; travelers can also head to Will Rogers World Airport, 13 miles away, for flights to destinations like Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth and Charlotte. While the EMBARK bus system offers a stop less than a mile from the neighborhood, but most residents get around via car.
Education at Putnam City schools
The Putnam City Public Schools system serves Lakeshore Estates, and kids start at Wiley Post Elementary School, which received a C grade from Niche. They then move on to Hefner Middle School, which receives a B-minus, before heading to B-rated Putnam City North High, where they can choose from 27 different Advanced Placement classes.
Teens from all over OKC area attend Putnam City North High School.
Children at Wiley Post Elementary are given a top notch education.

Cheering on the Thunder
Locals often head to downtown Oklahoma City to cheer on the city’s sports teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder plays at Paycom Center, while the Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club suits up at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark . The city also hosts plenty of festivals, like the Paseo Arts Festival held each May.
