Author and architecture critic Paul Goldberger once opined that “urbanism works when it creates a journey as desirable as the destination.” Remington, situated between northwest Oklahoma City and southern Deer Creek, is a prime example of urban development that "works" in this way. “It’s a great location, really close to the Kilpatrick Turnpike and Lake Hefner Parkway, and really close to Quail Springs Mall and lots of shopping,” says Leah Brown, a top Realtor with McGraw Realtors. “It’s a great mix between having space and being close to things. Remington is a really nice, high-end neighborhood with really beautiful, bigger homes, large lots, big two and three-car garages and nice brickwork.”

Remington’s scenic, peaceful residential streets are lined with evenly spaced Traditional and ranch-style homes. Many feature the hallmarks of Oklahoman suburbs, from attached two-car garages, tall wooden privacy fences and pillar-style mailboxes standing sentry at the end of neatly edged driveways. A typical three-bedroom, three-bathroom brick ranch, with a newly remodeled kitchen, new windows and built-in shelving surrounding the wood-burning fireplace tends to sell for close to the $435,000 mark. “Most houses here were built in the ‘80s and ‘90s, and they range in price depending on whether they’ve been remodeled recently,” notes Brown. She adds that two of the three active listings in July 2023 are priced at $135 a square foot, while the third is $127 a square foot, making the range for the neighborhood tight between $345,000 and $435,000. The median sale price for the larger metro area hovers around $325,000.

Aside from its tranquil, upscale homes, it’s Remington’s location that is most appealing to homebuyers. “It’s a great location to shoot in multiple locations across the city because of the big highways within a mile of the community,” says Brown, noting that the nearby Quail Springs area is a local hotspot for shopping and dining. “The Quail Springs Mall is going to have everything,” she says, explaining that “as malls are no longer full of shoppers like they used to be, they’re being repurposed for other things, like more entertainment and dining.” Quail Springs Mall, in particular, she notes, is popular for the Blue Zoo aquarium (OKC’s first) and its movie theater. “There’s a lot to do around the mall, too,” she adds. “There’s Chuck E. Cheese, BJ’s and a lot of other big-name chains over there. You’ve also got Lowe’s and Hobby Lobby, Walmart and Sam’s Club. The whole area is just huge, there’s everything you could want,” she gushes. Just a quick 3.5-mile jaunt east down the Kilpatrick Turnpike, Brown notes that “it’s super convenient.”

Remington students attend schools in the highly sought-after Deer Creek Schools system. Many go to Deer Creek Elementary, Deer Creek Middle and Deer Creek High, all three of which boast A grades from Niche and GreatSchools Summary Ratings of 8/10 or higher. “It’s a good school district, a lot of people like to be there,” says Brown. In 2023, U.S. News & World Report ranked Deer Creek High as the 12th-best high school in the state and the eighth-best in the metro.

From its beautiful homes and stellar schools to its enviably convenient location, it’s easy to see why the journey home to Remington is as nice as the destination.
