Springfield is located in the heart of South Oklahoma City.
Convenience and competitive home prices
Springfield is a typical late-20th-century suburb in Southside Oklahoma City. “It nails the atmosphere of a 1980s suburb on this side of the city,” says Glen Cosper, a member of the South OKC Chamber and a top Realtor with Keller Williams Green Meadow. “It’s established and close to everything you need to function in your day-to-day.” The bustling Interstate 240 shopping corridor is just a mile north. Interstate 35, which connects north to downtown OKC, is less than a mile east. There are two houses of worship and two public parks all within two miles of most homes. And to top off the laundry list of amenities, Springfield homes typically sell for well below the metro median. “It simply has everything that people look for when they look for homes in Southside,” says Cosper.
Hot housing market
Many of these ranch and Minimal Traditional-style homes were built in the 1970s and ‘80s. “It’s an older, more established area,” says Cosper. He adds that they tend to sell quickly compared to homes in other parts of Southside. “You’re looking at just a couple weeks on-market,” he says. Compared to the national average of 42 days on the market, homes here sell 200% faster. Prices are also competitive compared to the surrounding metro. Homes sell for between $200,000 and $275,000, with the median falling around the $205,000 mark. That’s about $50,000 less than the median for the city as well as the median for nearby Moore.

Moore Public Schools
Despite having an OKC zip code, Springfield kids are served by Moore Public Schools. Between preschool and sixth grade, they go to Houchin Elementary, which earns a C-plus grade from Niche. Older students attend West Junior High and Westmoore High School. The junior high earns a B-minus and the high school earns an A-minus from Niche. Westmoore 11th and 12th graders can take dual enrollment courses through the school’s partnership with the Moore-Norman Technology Center. Transportation to and from the center’s campus from Westmoore is provided by the district.
Houchin Elementary teaches students to be contributing members in society.
Westmoore High School is one of the most highly rated high schools in the district.

From Crossroads to Lightning Creek
Locals can head to Crossroads Sports Complex, off Southeast 89th Street within a mile of most homes, for baseball, cricket and soccer fields. The soccer fields at Lightning Creek Park aren’t much farther, just 2 miles northwest of Springfield.
Interstate 240 corridor shopping
There are big box stores galore along I-240 less than a mile north of the neighborhood, from Home Depot, Lowe’s and Harbor Freight to Walmart Supercenter, Academy Sports and Best Buy. Car dealerships, hotels, self-storage facilities and familiar favorite chain eateries and fast-food chains round out the bustling corridor. “You’re certainly convenient to a lot of retail and restaurants,” says Cosper. “If you want more local flavor, you’ll have to head into the city center, but this area is very convenient in terms of your everyday errand-running-type stores.”

Residents of Springfield can easily access Will Rogers World Airport for the flights.
Less than 20 minutes from the airport and downtown
Bus stops on OKC’s EMBARK lines are spaced evenly along Santa Fe Avenue and South Shields Boulevard, two main thoroughfares that run north-south through the neighborhood. Both Interstate 35 and 240 are within a mile of home. Via I-240, the 8.6-mile drive to the Will Rogers World Airport takes about 15 minutes. The drive into downtown OKC, which is about the same distance, can take as little as 11 minutes via I-35. On the main thoroughfare that runs through the middle of the neighborhood from east to west, Southeast 89th Street, there are two houses of worship that draw visitors from around the metro for regular services each week. Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine, a Roman Catholic institution dedicated to an Oklahoman-born priest, missionary and martyr, serves as a church, museum and pilgrimage site. It was built in 2019, dedicated in 2023, and in its first year of operation saw more than 100,000 visitors. Diagonally across the street, Crossroads Church offers nondenominational services with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
