Sought-after golf community

Waking up to expansive fairway views and enjoying proximity to many of the natural amenities and shopping that northwestern OKC has to offer are just a few things that draw people to live in The Greens. The community is centered by an active country club hailed for its 18-hole golf course and social activities, and many homes offer great views of the course. The community is located just minutes away from major highways that travel around the OKC area, and also is right next door to Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City.

The Greens Country Club

The private country club nestled amid the neighborhood’s rolling hills is a big draw for homebuyers to the community. “There are quite a few different golf courses and clubs in the northern and northwestern section of OKC. A lot of people out there from the city center for them,” says Brandon Ramirez, Real Estate Specialist with Kerr Team Real Estate. Awarded “Best Amenities” by Golf Inc. in 2021, The Greens Country Club stands out for its plethora of members-only amenities. Bermuda greens on the country club’s picturesque 18-hole golf course allow for year-round golfing. “It’s really tight knit,” says Matt Roche, a Realtor with Waving Wheat Realty. “A lot of the community rides their golf carts from their house to the clubhouse to get dinner, they do a lot of brunches and activities throughout the year for men, women and couples.” Members looking to make new friends while improving their skills can join the Men’s or Ladies’ Associations, and the country club also hosts competitions throughout the year. After a round, golfers dine at Twisted Oak Tavern to refuel. The country club also hosts an array of social events.

Homes overlooking the fairway

Single-family homes are tightly packed along the long, curving roads that make up the community. Traditional brick and ranch style homes are the dominant housing styles in The Greens, with prices that range from the high 200s for three-bedroom houses with a direct view of one of the 18 tee boxes to $530,000 for updated houses. In some cases, renovated homes can sell for as high as $750,000. “There’s an HOA but it’s not required, which is kind of rare in OKC,” Roche says.

Easy commuting on the John Kilpatrick Turnpike

For easy commuting, residents use the John Kilpatrick Turnpike or Lake Hefner Turnpike. As a lifelong resident of northwest OKC, Ramirez says, “When I was growing up there were just city streets. It took a while to get different places, but now with the turnpike put in it’s much more convenient to get everywhere.”

Retail shopping and nearby restaurants

Many of the dining options throughout the area are along Memorial Road. The brisket at Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q is a local favorite, along with the breakfast burritos for morning visitors. Mahogany Prime Steakhouse offers high-end dining options and a lengthy wine menu. Many residents visit the Walmart Supercenter or Target at the Quail Springs Marketplace strip mall for groceries and everyday shopping.

Spend the day at Martin Park Nature Center

When residents want fresh air, they are just a short drive from Martin Park Nature Center. Winding dirt trails surround creeks, and the park’s duck pond and it’s not rare to see some critters along the way. Nature enthusiasts can learn more about the local flora and fauna at the visitor center near the center of the park. Lake Hefner is close by for a day on the water. Closer to home, The Greens’ smallest residents can burn off energy at the Greens Tot Lot in the northeastern corner of the neighborhood.

Edmond and Oklahoma City Public Schools

Public schools for children living in the greens are split between the Edmond Public Schools and Oklahoma City Public Schools districts, depending on where a prospective resident’s home is located. Those in the Edmond Public Schools district will attend Angie Debo Elementary School, which received an A-minus Niche grade, followed by Summit Middle School and Santa Fe High, which both have A grades. OKPS students will attend Quail Creek Elementary, followed by John Marshall Middle and High Schools, which have C, C-minus and C-plus Niche grades, respectively.
