An Omaha enclave frozen in time
A historic enclave of Omaha, Dundee-Memorial Park is known for its preserved turn-of-the-century houses and unique shops and restaurants along Dodge Street. Managed by the Dundee-Memorial Park Association, residents and businesses are dedicated to maintaining and beautifying this highly walkable and visibly striking neighborhood. Turn-of-the-century cast iron streetlamps with hanging flower baskets line the streets, giving the impression of an early 1900s main street. “Dundee has charm, character and truly unique homes,” says Todd Bartusek of BHHS Ambassador Real Estate. “It also has a lot of loyalty. People who grew up here, stay here.”

Colonial Revival homes surrounded by towering maples
Dundee-Memorial Park made its mark as Omaha’s first streetcar suburb in the late 1800’s. In an effort to entice buyers to move outside the city limits, Omaha city developers planted 2,000 maple trees along the streets, cultivating a spacious and wooded enclave. Many of the historic homes remain, standing 25 feet from the street according to the original guidelines established for the neighborhood. Homes sit atop sprawling, manicured lawns cut by long pathways leading to the narrow sidewalks of this walkable community. Built from the 1880s through the 1920s, Colonials Revivals, Georgians and Tudor Revivals styles dominate the landscape. Prices range from $260,000 to $460,000 on average.

Memorial Park
About a mile northwest of the neighborhood is Memorial Park, founded in 1944 in honor of Douglas County Veterans. This 65-acre green space includes a baseball field, playground swings and a rose garden. The Memorial Park Concert and Fireworks Show draws a crowd every summer as musicians take the stage and fireworks burst in the night sky. Just south is historic Elmwood Park, 216 acres of green space fringed with mature oaks. The park includes an 18-hole golf course, a swimming pool, baseball fields and a web of trails.
Dundee Community Garden was founded in 2009 by residents who saw a need not only for additional beautification but also for ways to provide fresh produce to neighbors and the public. It features forty-one 4—by—10—inch vegetable plots, rain barrels, solar panels, pollinator flowers and more. In addition to hosting educational workshops and community events, DCG donates most of its harvest to underserved people within the community.
Located on Dodge Street, Film Streams, also known as Dundee Theater, is Omaha’s longest-surviving historic neighborhood movie house.

Bakeries and local watering holes
The business district of Downtown Dundee is known for its unique shops and popular restaurants and bars that Bartusek says are “always fun and always full”. Lola’s Cafe, known for their handmade pastries and specialty coffees, offers a particularly welcoming spot thanks to its high ceilings and huge windows that provide sunny views of Dodge Street. Another local favorite is Goldbergs in Dundee, where visitors are greeted by its red brick façade and patio seating under the cover of a red awning. “I would consider it an Omaha staple,” says Goldberg’s bartender, Josh Cunningham. This Dundee watering hole serves classic pub fare along with cocktails and draft beer. “A lot of our stuff is made in-house, including all of our sauces. Anything you dip in this restaurant was made here,” says Cunningham.
There’s a Walmart and a Westlake Ace Hardware 1.5 miles northeast of the neighborhood.
