A highly desirable Omaha community in close proximity to the city's top attractions
Just 2 miles west of downtown Omaha is Morton Meadows — a popular residential neighborhood sandwiched between Leavenworth Street and Center Street. Founded in 1924, Morton Meadows has since become a highly desirable community in proximity to many of Omaha's top attractions. It also neighbors the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Omaha VA Medical Center, which both serve as major employers in the area. "It's a great mix of old and young and people from all walks of life. A lot of young families, a lot of dogs, a lot of kids. It's just a cool neighborhood," says local Realtor Nick Benner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, who lives in the neighborhood and has sold over 100 homes around the Omaha metropolitan area. "We have a lot of bars and restaurants and parks and a lot of things that are near us that really make it appealing."
Just to the East of Morton Meadows you can find the Omaha VA Hospital.

Housing styles range from Tudors to small bungalows with Spanish-revivals mixed in
Homes in Morton Meadows are anything but cookie-cutter. The neighborhood's narrow, loosely gridded streets offer small bungalows and Tudors along with ranch homes and properties with Spanish-inspired frameworks. Smaller homes containing 1,000 to 1,500 square feet often price between $150,000 and $300,000 while larger properties with several bedrooms can range from $300,000 to upwards of $600,000. According to Benner, the housing market in Morton Meadows is very competitive with many homes selling within just a few days to a couple weeks.

Walk to the vibrant food scene in the Blackstone district
Good eats are only a quick drive — or walk — away. Bronco's is a local staple for a burger and fries while The Blackstone Meatball offers a beefy menu filled with meatball-infused entrees. Noli's is another community favorite for its specialty New York-style pizzas and cocktails. "Omaha has a great food scene," Benner says. "A lot of people are taken aback when they hear that, but it has just an awesome food scene throughout the city, and Morton Meadows is close to a ton of them." Residents can also pick up essentials from the nearby Hy-Vee Grocery Store off Center Street for a home-cooked meal. There is also a Baker's stationed on Saddle Creek Road while a Walmart Neighborhood Market sits a mile to the north. Additional retail shops and restaurants can be found on Farnam Street less than a mile north.
