Suburban living along the Schuylkill River
Aptly named for its location along the Schuylkill River, Riverview Park is a collection of post-World War II housing developments on the western side of Muhlenberg Township. This quiet, residential area offers sturdy ranch-style homes on moderately sized lots 5 miles north of Downtown Reading. "I believe what draws people here is easy access to highways, an established corridor of commerce and the preservation of open green spaces," says Jim Bobeck, Muhlenberg Township manager. Waterfront parks are within walking distance of some homes, and nearby entrances to U.S. Route 222 make exploring the rest of the region a breeze.
Ranch-style homes from the mid-1900s, with some later development
Riverview Park’s large, grassy lawns are dotted by the occasional tree or shrub, with mid-20th century homes lining either side of the wide streets. This suburban neighborhood offers generous lots ranging from a quarter-acre to a half-acre, with attached, two-car garages. Ranch-style homes are especially common, though some cottages, split-level homes and New Traditional homes from 2000s development can also be found here. Even some new construction homes are continuing to crop up in the area. Home prices start at around $200,000 and can climb to $500,000.
Riverview Park offers single family homes on spacious lots.

Neighborhood playgrounds and Schuylkill River views
At the heart of Riverview Park is the Stoudt’s Ferry Playground, a popular hangout for local kids that also features a multi-use field and basketball courts. Laurel Run Creek meanders along the southern end of the neighborhood, flanked by Laurelain Park and Laurel Run Park. Between the two parks are long stretches of walking trails, a playground and athletic fields. Some paths follow the Schuylkill River, with spots to fish or launch a canoe along River Road. More riverfront views can be found at Felix Dam Recreation Area. North of the neighborhood, dog owners take their pups to Jim Dietrich Dog Park to roam the fenced-in area.

Reading-area entertainment also isn’t far, with FirstEnergy Stadium 3 miles south. The Fightin Phils Minor League Baseball team plays in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League as the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. At Reading Outer Station, folks can catch scenic, seasonal train rides along the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad.

Local merchants pack Fairgrounds Farmers Market
Riverview Park is close to a bustling commercial corridor along the highways north of Reading. "This is a huge retail area with everything from big box stores to mom-and-pop shops," Bobeck says. At Fairgrounds Farmers Market, dozens of local vendors fill their stalls with fresh produce, baked goods and artisan wares every Thursday through Sunday. Counter-service eateries such as San’s Asian Food, Country BBQ Corner and Scott’s Hot Spot are among the market’s many merchants. AMC Fairgrounds 10 is right around the corner, with supermarkets such as Target and Walmart close by.

Across the river from Reading Regional Airport
Downtown Reading is roughly 5 miles south, with multiple nearby highways, including U.S. Route 222, to help residents get around. Although Berks Area Reading Transportation Authority buses do stop nearby, most Riverview Park residents rely on their cars to navigate the area. Reading Regional Airport is just across the Schuylkill River and is best known for housing the Mid Atlantic Air Museum and its annual World War II Weekend, which brings historic aircrafts and reenactors to the museum hangar. However, the nearest airport for commercial flights is Lehigh Valley International Airport, located 35 miles away in Allentown. Healthcare is closer at Reading Hospital in West Reading, also a popular shopping and dining district 7 miles south. Some professionals even commute to Philadelphia, about 65 miles east.
