Grazing cattle in Sibley natural area reduce wildfire risk
The Wilder development includes a system of trails that weaves through more than 1,300 acres of open space. The Wilder Fields are a collection of soccer and baseball fields northwest of the neighborhood. Past the fields and across the highway, colorful wildflowers reach toward the sun along sandy trails that lead to bay vistas in the Siesta Valley Recreation Area.
Homes in the southwest portion of the neighborhood back up to the Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve, and a path connects the residential streets to the preserve’s hiking and equestrian trails. Free-range cattle are a common sight on the preserve's slopes, and their grazing reduces the risk of wildfires by removing vegetation.
