Overlooking the Pacific Coast Highway from Oxnard’s eastern outskirts, Diamond Bar is no hidden gem. Kevin Webber, an Aviara Real Estate realtor with nearly a decade of local experience, says this neighborhood is both well-known and highly sought-after. “The market here moves fast. Homes sell for over-asking but under the median for Ventura County, which is a sweet spot to be in,” he says, adding that he received 27 offers in just 48 hours for one of his recent listings. “It was just a typical ranch that needed a bit of work, but there are a lot of hardworking families and investors that are all interested in the area, so we weren’t surprised to see it go under contract so quickly,” says Webber. Close to shopping and dining along major Oxnard thoroughfares and less than 6 miles from the beach, Diamond Bar’s location certainly sparkles.

Stucco split-levels and more
Diamond Bar’s 1960s and ‘70s stucco-clad Split Levels and ranch-style homes feature small front lawns, landscaped minimally with flowering shrubs and towering palm trees. They’re often surrounded by low walls of decorative stonework and white wrought iron or simple chain link fencing. “There are a lot of medium-priced homes here, which appeals to people looking in the area,” says Webber. Newly renovated three-bedroom Split Levels tend to sell for upward of $750,000 while less updated two-bedroom ranch-style homes go for closer to $600,000.
Mexican markets and meals
Numero Uno Market offers fresh produce, meats, seafood and baked goods just a mile west of home, off East Channel Islands Boulevard. Even closer, there’s shopping and dining clustered around the corner of Channel Islands and South Rose Avenue. The bustling corner has everything from banks and pharmacies to a gym and even a car wash. Close to South Oxnard Boulevard, at the north end of the shopping center, visit La Michoacana Azteca or Tacos Mi Pueblo for classic Mexican and Latin American fare.
Highly rated Channel Islands High
Most neighborhood students go to Lemonwood School through eighth grade and Channel Islands for high school. Lemonwood, which earned a C-minus from Niche in 2023, is conveniently located less than a mile north of Diamond Bar. Channel Islands High, which got a B-minus from Niche, is only slightly farther afield at just over a mile west. Teens can work toward earning a State Seal of Biliteracy on their diplomas at graduation by taking Spanish courses at Channel Islands High. The gold seal honors scholars for showing great proficiency in reading, writing and speaking a language in addition to English.
Nearby Oxnard neighborhood parks
Behind Lemonwood School within a mile of home, Lemonwood Park offers a short, paved walking path through a grove of live oaks and scrubby pines, as well as basketball and tennis courts and a small baseball field. At College Park, about a mile west across South Oxnard Boulevard, there’s a large, lighted playground with multiple, sports-themed climbing structures, as well as a variety of practice ball fields and sports courts. And skateboarders can practice their kick flips at the Bedford Pinkard Skate Park off South Rose Avenue on the park’s west side. Locals can soak up the sun on the surf or sand at the Port Hueneme Beach Park, an easy 10-minute drive southwest.

PCH cruising and easy commuting
With the Pacific Coast Highway less than a mile east, it’s easy for Diamond Bar residents to head up or down the Californian coast. Hopping on the bus is just as easy here, with stops along the Gold Coast Transit District line within half a mile of most homes, at intervals along East Channel Islands Boulevard.
