Historic neighborhood with walkability
Wilson is one of Oxnard's most desirable neighborhoods, known for its historic homes and highly walkable streets just north of downtown. "It's a unique area because you can find lots of nice single-family homes within walking distance of downtown," says Realtor Xavier Flores with Keller Williams West Ventura County, who specializes in Oxnard and Ventura. The neighborhood homes and large oak trees have been standing since the early 1900s. "These aren't your regular tract homes, they've got real character," says Flores. The Henry T. Oxnard Historic District along F Street and G Street – named after the entrepreneur who gave the city its name – is the neighborhood's most notable enclave, now recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. Along with walkability, the neighborhood's central location adds a layer of convenience, with the beach 5 miles south and extensive retail shopping 3 miles north.

Early 1900s homes on shady streets
Large oaks and sycamores flourish in the Mediterranean climate, shading sidewalks and lawns along the neighborhood streets. "It's sought-after because of the spacious custom builds, most on quarter-acre lots," says Joe Virnig, Realtor and broker with RE/MAX Gold Coast Realtors. The Henry T. Oxnard Historic District represents the architectural spirit of the neighborhood. The expansive Craftsman homes, Colonial Revival mansions and breezy bungalows were built between 1909 and 1941. These highly desired homes, ranging from $900,000 to $1.2 million, aren't on the market often, but the 1920s architecture and enchanting landscaping can be found throughout the neighborhood. Homebuyers can find three-to-four-bedroom Spanish-inspired cottages and Craftsman bungalows for between $600,000 and almost $900,000.
