Exclusive golfing experience at Old Marsh Golf Club
Life at the Old Marsh Golf Club revolves around the popular sport and the natural scenery of South Florida. The community is centered on a 450-acre Pete Dye-designed golf course. Live oaks and palm trees tower overhead and open onto streets with custom homes on half-acre lots. The community is bordered by a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The neighborhood’s location in Palm Beach Gardens is close to other championship courses, outdoor activities and dining spots. “The intriguing component of Old Marsh is that it has a very understood elegance in a natural setting surrounded by three sizes of natural preserves,” says Craig Bretzlaff, co-owner of The Bretzlaff Group.
Million-dollar custom homes and HOA amenities
Homes range between $3 million and $8 million and are custom-built. Types include Mediterranean and neo classicals. Bretzlaff says HOA fees are estimated at $500 monthly and include housekeeping, maintenance and security. The HOA also provides vendor services for interior design, hurricane shutter installation and other maintenance services.
Bretzlaff says the neighborhood attracts working executives and retirees. However, families have also been moving in as the location is close to schools and local attractions. The surrounding environment protects the area from road or train noise, and the neighborhood earns a CAP Index Crime Score of 1, below the national average of 4.
Golfing and outdoor trails mark the area
Golf Digest has named The Old Marsh Golf Course, built in 1987 by renowned designer Pete Dye, one of the best in the nation. Bretzlaff says there are fewer than 300 club members. An application is required if property is purchased and comes with an initiation fee of $300,000. Other golfing destinations around the neighborhood are private, but the PGA National Resort is 4 miles south and hosts the popular Cognizant Classic. Green spaces include Mirasol Park, which features basketball courts, a softball field and playgrounds. The Mirasol Trial is south of the neighborhood and has miles of boardwalks and pathways.
Top-rated public and private schools
Students start at Marsh Pointe Elementary School, which has an A Niche rating, and continue to B-plus-rated Watson B. Duncan Middle School. William T. Dwyer High School is A-minus-graded and has an academy of finance. Private schools nearby include The Benjamin School, which has pre-K through 12th grade programs, and Oxbridge Academy, which has sixth through 12th grade. Both schools also have an A-plus ranking.
Local shopping mall and dining spots
The Gardens Mall, located 5 miles from the community, features multiple retail stores, including Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. Publix is 4 miles south on PGA Boulevard. The closest hospital is Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, 6 miles south. The golf course has a members only restaurant, but local eateries include La Masseria on PGA Boulevard, which serves authentic Italian dishes and has received awards from Wine Spectator. Ebisu Japanese Restaurant on PGA Boulevard has sushi and ramen.
Airport and Interstate Access
The nearest commercial airport is Palm Beach International, 19 miles south. The entrance to Interstate 95 is east along Donald Ross Road, while Florida's Turnpike is south on PGA Boulevard.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
