Palm Beach County 33408, 33410
Straddling the border between Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens South gets the best of both worlds. Palm Beach Gardens South lies about 5 miles from the lapping waves at Juno Beach and about 10 miles from the burgeoning city of Downtown West Palm Beach, nicknamed “Wall Street South.” Eateries, outlets and entertainment converge at shopping meccas like the Gardens Mall, skirting the neighborhood's north side. In this neck of southern Florida, traffic is light, and Palm Beach Gardens South maintains an air of tranquility even as Palm Beach County grows. The community is especially peaceful when snowbird residents are out of town during the summer.
Whether you’re looking for quaint, diverse ranches circling a quiet cul-de-sac or uniform split-level homes with driveways and garages, Palm Beach Gardens South covers many bases. Single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and mobile homes form various open and gated subcommunities within the neighborhood. Like much of Florida, the main architectural style leans toward Spanish eclectic, but other styles, such as minimal traditional and more unique designs, also populate the area. Palm Beach Gardens South lives up to its name and role as part of the Garden City. Trees on every street enrich residential areas, while the bright green lawns of North Palm Beach Country Club are just a stone’s throw across the North Palm Beach waterway.
Allamanda Elementary School, graded B-plus by Niche, is a magnet school in the neighborhood, and its unique Health and Wellness Program promote physical activity and other health-related topics. If you want to enjoy the tropical air, Oaks Park has a grill on its pavilion for a lunch outdoors or you can play tennis. This quaint green space includes tennis courts, picnic tables, plenty of shade and a trail. On the east side of the neighborhood, the North Palm Beach Village Community Center sits by the waterway. This facility features an indoor gym, outdoor basketball courts, exercise areas, a fitness trail and a large field to play baseball or soccer. The rolling green lawns of North Palm Beach Country Club bask in the sun about a 3-mile drive outside Palm Beach Gardens South. This country club sports a par 71, links-style golf course and 10 Har-Tru clay tennis courts. The country club’s community restaurant, Farmer’s Table, and its “never-ever” menu serve dishes free of hormones, pesticides or other chemicals. Friday or Saturday nights feature live music, while Sunday brunch is paired with a live jazz band.
Promenade Shopping Plaza has an assortment of convenience businesses right in the neighborhood. Take a trip to the bank, grab some food, hit the gym and buy groceries all in one trip. PGA Boulevard is lined with conveniences for quick and easy errand runs on the neighborhood's north side. Across that thoroughfare, you’ll find the grand structures of Downtown Palm Beach Gardens and the Gardens Mall. The brick walkways of Downtown Palm Beach Gardens are lined with palm trees, fountains, local and commercial retailers, along with cosmopolitan eateries such as Voodoo Bayou, a southern Cajun restaurant with jambalaya that can put a delicious hex on diners.
Ever seen a glowing snowman with an oversized margarita? During the most wonderful time of the year, residents of Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach gather on the green lawns of the country club to watch the Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade. The Marine Industries Association hosts this waterborne extravaganza. Competing for a prize and a lasting impression on the crowd, boats draped in lights and inflatable decorations blast music, launch fireworks and put on a show.
Rain or shine, the Gardens Green Market opens every Sunday at the City Hall Municipal Campus. Over 100 vendors set up shops to sell fresh produce, handmade novelties, meals and more as live music plays. Meanwhile, the Community Concert Series makes for a great date night at the Veteran’s Plaza Amphitheater, just 2 miles west of Palm Beach Gardens South.
