Bayside, suburban living north of Palmetto
Just a few miles north of Palmetto, Florida, Memphis is a peaceful, suburban neighborhood made up of residential, private and retirement communities. Compared to surrounding neighborhoods that are being developed at a rapid pace, Memphis remains a "Beautiful area with nearby access to beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and parks along the Terra Ceia Bay," says Greg Owens, a lead listing agent with Keller Williams on the Water. "It has small-town feel," Owens adds, and local civic associations, like that of Palmetto Point, are active participants in their communities. "Neighbors look out for each other," says Owens, "And people love living here. The homes are by the water and it's easy to get around." Featuring quiet neighborhood streets and cul-de-sacs lined with pristine waterfront homes, residents of Memphis are only a short drive away from Palmetto and have plenty of access to undisturbed "Old Florida"--meaning untouched natural areas along the coast. Despite maintaining a serene, laid-back vibe, Memphis is bordered by highways U.S. Route 19 and U.S. Route 41, which provides residents with quick access to the surrounding areas of St. Petersburg and Sarasota.
