Palos East Elementary School is a public school located south of the neighborhood that received an A grade from Niche. The school also offers extracurricular activities for students including beginning band, cardinal choir and math Olympiad for 5th and 6th graders. North of the school, there's a playground where parents can take their kids to play after work. Palos East Elementary provides a strong educational foundation for students before they ascend to Palos South Middle School and commence their secondary education at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School, with both schools also earning an overall A from Niche. Stagg High is rated as one of the top 100 public high schools in the state.
Colonial Heights' Community Park lets locals get active
Community Park, the neighborhood's expansive 34-acre green space, provides residents with an array of outdoor amenities. This includes two well-lit tennis courts, two softball fields, five baseball fields and a 9-hole disc golf course for sports enthusiasts. The park also features a practical picnic shelter, ideal for casual gatherings, as well as a playground ensuring there's something for everyone, from sports activities to family leisure. The picnic shelter is available to rent and has seating for up to 50 people. The Palos Heights Swimming Pool is just to the north of the park and has two water slides and a diving board. It’s an ideal spot for residents to cool off in the summer.
