Many housing styles can be found in Downtown Palos Heights, including older brick ranch-style homes, quaint Cape Cods and newer modern traditional homes. When they want to get outside on summer days, residents head to Navajo Park. Located right by Navajo Heights Elementary School, this small park is dominated by a playground with swings and plenty of open space for kids to run around. Palmer Park, just off 73rd Court, has tennis courts, a basketball court and a softball field for athletically inclined locals. The Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanical Gardens at the north end of the neighborhood is woven through by several miles of trails and offers canoe and kayak rentals.
