Expansive suburban neighborhood close to Parker

Villages of Parker is a sprawling residential area with cul-de-sacs of single-family homes within walking distance of pocket parks and quality schools, about 4 miles from Downtown Parker. Originally named “Canterberry Crossing", which some locals still call it; the neighborhood has the Black Bear Golf Club at the center of it. “It’s a good community – a golfing community – that’s a little outside the Highlands Ranch and Parker areas. My wife and I belong to the club, and we love being members there,” says Real Estate Broker Jason Corriere with eXp Realty, The Corriere Group, who has over 15 years of experience.

Single-family homes from the 1990s and 2000s

Most homes in Villages of Parker have driveways and decorative front lawns and are found along cul-de-sacs and loops. Contemporary Craftsman homes built in the 1990s and 2000s are common, with features such as multiple front gables, pointed roofs, front porches and stone accents. Some of these houses are single-story, while others have two levels. Prices range from $550,000 to $1.1 million, depending on property size and location. Homes with the Black Bear Golf Club in their backyard will be on the higher end. There are also a handful of new traditional multi-story homes in the neighborhood with simple exteriors that cost $700,000 to $825,000. “They’re all tract homes, but they have various models, and most come with basements,” Corriere says. Townhouses are rare in Villages of Parker but can be found along Canterberry Trail. These properties are multi-level, built in the 2000s and go for $475,000 to $525,000.

High-rated Douglas County public schools

Children living in Villages of Parker can start their education at either Frontier Valley Elementary School, which earns an A-minus grade from Niche, or Pioneer Elementary which has a B-plus. Both schools offer before- and after-school enrichment opportunities. From there, students can attend Cimarron Middle School, which also has a B-plus. Legend High School receives an A-minus grade and offers an Advanced Placement Capstone Program. Students can participate in over 50 student clubs and activities, including the Society of Women Engineers and Model UN. The Douglas County School District also allows open enrollment for those who want to attend schools outside their zoning boundary.

Golf courses, neighborhood parks and state parks

Black Bear Golf Club is a private 18-hole golf course centrally located in the neighborhood. “It’s a relatively nice course, difficult but fun,” Corriere says. Members can also enjoy pickleball courts and three outdoor pools. Additionally, Villages of Parker has multiple parks with recreational facilities. Buffaloberry Park and Riva Ridge Park both have playgrounds and tennis courts, while Paperflower Park has an open grassy field for hosting movie nights in the summer. Deer Trail Park is a pocket park with access to the Sulphur Gulf Trail, a multi-use pathway that winds throughout the area. “We’ve run on it and walked on it and will take our bikes down to Parker for some of their festivities,” Corriere says. Cherry Creek State Park is about 14 miles north with over 4,200 acres of natural recreation. There are over 35 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and winter skiing. Visitors can also go camping, picnicking and wildlife watching. Boating and fishing is allowed on the reservoir.

Celebrating the Villages of Parker community

The Villages of Parker Master Association looks after the neighborhood, providing grounds maintenance and snow removal services when needed. Sub-associations of the neighborhood exist for Cypress Ridge, Derby Hill, Palmetto, Saddlebrook and more.Additionally, Black Bear Golf Club will occasionally host pool parties and get-togethers, like an annual Summer Carnival in July that has food trucks and family-friendly activities. According to Susan Corriere, with Cozy Colorado Furnished Rentals, members will rent the clubhouse out for private weddings and Christmas parties.

Parker’s nearby shopping and dining opportunities

Since Villages of Parker is primarily residential, shopping and dining are done outside the neighborhood. Downtown Parker is about 4 miles west on Main Street and has dozens of small businesses like Poor Richard’s Book Shoppe. Local eateries include Portofino Pizza and Pasta, a casual Italian restaurant, and Black + Haus, an upscale American bistro. On the west side of South Parker Road, there’s a Safeway for groceries. Farther south on Parker Road, about 5 miles from the neighborhood, is the Parker Pavilions shopping complex. Multiple big-box stores cover the area, including Target and Home Depot. There’s even a Walmart Supercenter. Chain restaurants include Texas Roadhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings, and fast-food options are Del Taco and Jack in the Box. Across Twenty Mile Road are national retailers like Kohl’s and Famous Footwear.

Navigating in and out of Villages of Parker

The sidewalks and wide cul-de-sacs throughout Villages of Parker encourage recreational walks and bike rides. However, a vehicle is preferred when commuting outside the neighborhood. Access to Colorado state Route 83, known as South Parker Road, is about 5 miles west. From there, drivers can head about 6 miles north and hop on Expressway 470 to access the rest of Denver. The AdventHealth Hospital is right by the exit. The Centennial Airport is around 12 miles away with charter flight services, but those seeking commercial flights will have to use the Denver International Airport, roughly 33 miles away.
