Upscale estates at comparable prices

Many of the single-family homes in the gated community were built around the turn of the 20th century. Home prices range from $700,000 to $1.1 million, with large homes along the waterways fetching the highest prices. “It’s moderately priced for Parkland,” Mechler says. Architectural styles vary depending on the subdivision, but many feature a Mediterranean influence with red-tiled roofs. Though many of the homes in the neighborhood are for sale, some are rentals.

Highly rated Broward County schools

Parkland Isles is zoned to the highly rated Broward County Public Schools district. Kids might start at Park Trails Elementary School, rated A-minus by Niche, offering activities like robotics and Zumba. Westglades Middle School also receives an A-minus, followed by A-plus-rated Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which is within walking or biking distance for students in Parkland Isles. The school created a garden named after Marjory Douglas, the famous environmentalist, in a fertile space filled with plants, flowers and vegetables.

Weekend fun at Pine Trails Park

Parkland Isles is about 3 miles from the Parkland Golf and Country Club, a private club with an 18-hole course. Closer to home, Pine Trails Park has an expansive playground area for kids as well as a pavilion for some weekend barbecuing. The park’s soccer fields often host some of the area’s organized leagues. Parkland Isles is a few miles from one of the Everglades conservation areas, which has several hiking and biking trails. The Everglades offer plenty of outdoor attractions, including airboat tours where thrill seekers can see some Florida gators.

Live music at Lefty's

Parkland Isles is within a few miles of several of the city’s shopping centers and restaurants. The Sawgrass Center shopping center is home to local businesses, a few sit-down restaurants, and Publix for residents in need of groceries. Walmart is also close by for daily essentials. Residents can catch their favorite team play at Lefty’s Tavern, which serves pub grub and an array of beer. When a big game isn’t on, Lefty’s hosts trivia nights on Mondays and brings in live bands on Fridays. About a mile away, the Magnolia Shoppes mall gas retail options and a Regal movie theater to catch the latest box office hits.

Shopping local at the Parkland Farmers Market

Parkland Isles is 3 miles from the Parkland Equestrian Center, home to the city’s farmers market, which runs from November until April and is lined with local vendors. The city has celebrated Parkland Day since 1967, a festival that first started as a horse showcase. Today, the festivities kick off with a parade, followed by live music, games and plenty of food options.

Express routes to Boca Raton

With no public transportation in or around the neighborhood, Parkland Isles residents tend to drive to get around. The Sawgrass Expressway, a major toll road, leads to the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 95. This part of Parkland is about 15 miles from Boca Raton and its miles of sandy shorelines along the oceanfront. In the other direction, the Everglades are merely a mile away. For medical care, the community is about 5 miles from the Broward Health Coral Springs hospital.
