Between the beach and the city of Philadelphia sits quiet, charming Pemberton Township. Boasting a population of roughly 27,000 people and a mix of residential, commercial and natural areas, Pemberton Township offers residents a well-balanced way of life.

You’ll see swaths of undeveloped land and farmland on a drive through this Burlington County township. The area’s residential pockets feature leafy tree-lined streets and a range of architectural styles that include ranch homes and split levels. These houses are perched next to each other on lots averaging a quarter-acre, with simple landscaping and short driveways. Here, you can get a three-bedroom ranch home for around $300,000 or a four-bedroom split level for around $400,000.

Students attend schools in the Pemberton Township School District, which receives an overall grade of C-plus from Niche. These include Joseph S. Stackhouse School, which receives an overall grade of B-minus from Niche, Helen A. Fort Middle School, which receives a C-plus, and Pemberton Township High School, which earns a C-plus. Pemberton Township High offers students the opportunity to enroll in a College Accreditation Program (CAP) that lets students take college-level courses, and earn college credit, while still in high school.

For some outdoor fun, bring kids to Imagination Kingdom on 4 Mile Road. Featuring an abundance of castle-themed playground equipment, slides and swings, as well as benches and covered picnic areas, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained. Immerse yourself in nature on the hiking trails at Brendan T. Byrne State Forest. This protected wilderness area spans a whopping 38,000 acres and borders the southern edge of the township. If you want a unique and memorable experience, play a lively game of paintball at On Target Action Park, located on Sheep Pen Hill Road.

When hungry, head to LoLo’s Kitchen, a vibrant local diner on Fort Dix Road, where you can enjoy a generous plate of American breakfast staples like pancakes and biscuits. If you’re craving pizza, head to Pete & Jon’s Pizzeria on Magnolia Road for a deliciously cheesy pie.

For locally grown seasonal produce and other goods, stop by Lone Wolf Farm Market on Pemberton Road. You can pick up the rest of your groceries at ACME Markets on Broadway Street. You can grab daily essentials at small retailers in the township, such as Dollar General, but for a larger shopping trip, you’ll want to jump on Route 38 for a 6-mile drive that will land you at big-box stores like Walmart and Lowe’s.

The majority of Pemberton Township residents travel by car, as public transportation is not readily available in this area, and proximity to major thoroughfares offers easy routes to nearby towns and beyond. 30 miles east on Route 70 will bring you right to the beaches of the Atlantic. When the artsy energy of downtown Philadelphia starts to call, 30 miles west on Interstate 295 will land in the heart of the city.
