Rainbow Lakes has suburban charm and tranquil water views

Rainbow Lakes gets its name from the sprawling park that runs through it, but it’s also named after the small lake on the community’s west side, which gives many residents tranquil water views. This HOA-free neighborhood in Pembroke Pines is almost entirely residential, safe for the park and a small cluster of restaurants and services along Taft Road. Residents enjoy quiet suburban streets with plenty of sidewalks and trees, plus proximity to the city’s major shopping centers, green spaces and the airport.

Ranch-style homes from the ‘70s and ‘80s on landscaped lawns

Homes in Rainbow Lakes are mainly ranch-style with three or four bedrooms, built in the 1970s and 1980s. They sit close together on landscaped lawns dotted with mature trees. Garages and driveways are standard, and backyards often feature pools. Prices range from $575,000 to $700,000. Higher-priced homes often feature backyard water views. A small selection of two-bedroom townhouses is located on the neighborhood’s south side, typically priced around $350,000.

Kids attend Broward County Public Schools

Broward County Public Schools serves the area and offers School Choice. The schools zoned to the neighborhood are Pasadena Lakes Elementary, which rates a B on Niche; Pines Middle, which rates a C-plus; and Charles W. Flanagan High, which rates a B-plus. Flanagan High offers multiple clubs and organizations, including Business Professionals of America, Florida Future Educators of America, and the Math National Honor Society.

Local parks offering playgrounds, fields and walking trails

Rainbow Lakes Park runs through the neighborhood’s center and offers a covered playground, lighted racquetball courts and a walking path. Nearby Brian Piccolo Sports Park & Velodrome is one of the county’s main athletic hubs, with fields for soccer, baseball, softball and cricket. It also features basketball and tennis courts, a disc golf course, and a playground, and is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail.

Dining in the neighborhood and shopping is close by

Two small shopping centers along Taft Street offer restaurants and services. One of the local restaurants, Punta Cana, is a favorite for authentic Dominican dishes. Publix is conveniently located along Sheridan Street. Pembroke Lakes Mall is less than 4 miles away and features indoor shopping at popular stores like Macy’s and Dillard’s. Outdoor shopping centers and big-box stores like Target and Best Buy surround the mall.

City events at Charles F. Dodge City Center

The city offers multiple events throughout the year, including Taste of Pines in February, where dozens of local restaurants offer samples of their dishes; and Boo-ville, which celebrates Halloween with a costume contest and other family-friendly activities. Both events occur at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, less than 4 miles from the neighborhood.

BCT buses run through the neighborhood, I-75 and the airport are nearby

Sheridan Street connects to Interstate 75, several miles away. Broward County Transit buses run along Taft Street and the city’s other major thoroughfares. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is less than 20 miles away.
