Upscale living in the heart of the East Bay
Upper Piedmont is a high-end, East Bay community known for its suburban streets, stately homes and highly rated schools. Its residents live along quiet hillsides that are bursting with greenery, landscaped yards and tall trees. The neighborhood forms the northeastern edge of Piedmont, a wealthy residential city entirely surrounded by the city of Oakland. “Piedmont has its own government services, fire and police. And it has its own school system that’s separate from Oakland, which is a big draw,” says Realtor Deidre Joyner of Red Oak Realty, a longtime Oakland resident. "There are a lot of people that move here specifically for the schools."
