Pittsburg’s master-planned community with starter home opportunities
In the hills of Pittsburg is Vista Del Mar, a relatively new master-planned community where both homes and businesses continue to grow. Vista Del Mar, which translates to “Sea View,” offers views of the Delta and the surrounding hills. “It’s a nice, breezy area,” says Joanne Hodge, Realtor with Keller Williams Realty and longtime Pittsburg resident. “A lot of the homes here come with great scenery.” The neighborhood is popular amongst locals looking for starter home opportunities next to public transportation for commuting into big Bay Area hubs. Along with a convenient location, Vista Del Mar offers some of the lowest housing price points in the area, especially for its newer home selections with tons of community amenities.

Craftsman-influenced homes and manicured landscapes
The neighborhood’s streetscapes are clean and well-manicured, with paved sidewalks leading from one subdivision to the next. Some of Vista Del Mar’s early builds include three-bedroom Craftsman-influenced homes with stucco siding and attached garages. Most of these homes, priced from the mid-$700,000s to about $900,000, were built in the early 2000s and have been well maintained. New construction can be found in the subdivisions of Serene at Vista Del Mar and Retreat at Vista Del Mar, which were developed by the same builder, Taylor Morrison. In both areas, there are rows of new three- and four-bedroom homes in styles inspired by traditional and Craftsman architecture. Most new construction is fetching between $700,000 and $750,000.
