Split-levels and American Foursquares dot the hillsides
Crafton Heights’ sidewalk-lined streets run past homes decorated with colorful plantings and rows of old maple trees. Most properties are older, dating from the early to mid-1900s, in split-level and American Foursquare styles. Some sit at the hilltops, connected to the street by long staircases, while others settle in the foothills, often facing the steep incline. Price points in Crafton Heights are slightly lower than in Crafton proper, falling at an average of around $150,000.

Fireworks at West End Overlook Park
The West End Overlook Park is among the most popular outdoor spaces in the city, and Crafton Heights homeowners can head there on foot. It’s known for its views of the Ohio River and the city skyline. The grassy grounds fill up for seasonal celebrations like the fireworks show on the 4th of July when the sky lights up above the buildings on the horizon. Locals visit the smaller West End Park, a hilly natural pocket under an oak canopy, to walk the dog around the pond and to take the kids to the playground.

I rented on the edge of Mt Washington for years. I bought my first house in Crafton Heights. I found houses in the neighborhood with partial city views without the drawbacks of Mt Washington. I don't have lost tourists asking for directions and tourist traffic driving. I also don't have to deal with rock slides, mud slides, roads closed, and driving up a cliff in the winter. I found the neighbors to be friendly and down to earth. The neighborhoods in a quiet location between Robinson and downtown without heavy traffic. I have a nice floor plan, central air, and large integral garage all under budget. I finished updates to the house.

I like the area, I feel safe. There's not much crime that happens on my street. I trust my neighbors that live next to me and across the street. I hope in the future more families will consider moving into the area there are places to eat and things to do that many people enjoy.

Crafton Heights is a great neighborhood if you want easy city access with suburban home amenities. The homes are typically smaller and newer than Crafton Borough with lower property taxes since you're in city limits. There are lots of long term residents including many professionals working downtown, police and firefighters.

Quiet town close to the big city of Pittsburgh. Great transportation. Police and EMS presence makes you feel safe and secure. Small homes with tons of character. Lots of sidewalks and trails to walk on. Many stores within walking distance.
