A quiet residential community in Eastern Pittsburgh

Greenfield may be tucked away in the rolling hills of Eastern Pittsburgh, but just 5 miles from downtown Pittsburgh this quiet residential enclave boasts a location that keeps residents close to the action. “There is perfect accessibility with the best of city living,” says Ann Greathouse, Pittsburgh native and Realtor at Howard Hanna Real Estate. “Greenfield has the same amenities as other areas without the price tag.” The neighborhood has multiple community parks and green spaces scattered throughout the winding roads. Local eateries dot Greenfield Avenue, and retail activity can be found nearby at shopping centers like The Waterfront.

Varied architecture in the rolling hills

While the architectural style in Greenfield is varied, its hilly landscapes are a welcome constant, offering scenic views from well-positioned properties. Residents navigate a series of city-maintained staircases, which connect homes to the different parks and businesses scattered throughout the neighborhood. Predominant housing styles include American Foursquares and Craftsman-style dwellings with brick facades. Street parking is standard, and staircases on front lawns are often required due to varied elevation levels. Single-family houses price between $180,000 and $350,000, while recently renovated builds can top $400,000. Multifamily townhouses range between $150,000 and $250,000. Accessible housing is part of what makes Greenfield such a desirable place to live, however, listings do not stay on the market for very long. “The east end of Pittsburgh is always desirable and competitive,” Greathouse says.

Nice, safer neighborhood filled with both students and usual residents. Many bus lines that go in and out of Pittsburgh, and depending which side of Greenfield you live on, you could easily walk to Squirrel Hill which has lots of great restaurants and shops. Relatively quiet area that is mostly residential. Parking is easier here than in other parts on the city.

Quiet, yet very close to the hot spots, and convenient to job centers and the parkway. A suburb in the city.

Greenfield is a great little neighborhood with excellent access to downtown, the highway, and other areas of the city like Squirrel Hill and Schenley Park. A few more businesses (specifically a coffee shop and a gym) would really make the area perfect.
