Home of the National Opera House and a bright future
Lincoln-Lemington Belmar was once home to the National Opera House and the nation’s first African American Opera Company. Now, the Opera House is getting a fresh start. “I purchased the house with the goal of restoration and development,” says Jonnet Solomon, Executive Director of the National Opera House. “We plan to make it an anchor for the community while building an arts district down the street.” The story of the House is intertwined with the story of Lincoln-Lemington Belmar. Although the neighborhood has faced challenges in the past, renewed interest from the city and community groups has fostered growth in the area. Today, homebuyers can find accessible housing options, access to community parks, and proximity to downtown Pittsburgh.

My area is nice but the closer to the city the areas are ran down. I wish that some more businesses were around so people would not have to travel so far to go to the grocery store. The landscape of this area is beautiful but all around the beauty is ran down areas that are creepy.
