Abundant outdoor opportunities are teed up for residents of Heather Hill Country Club. This neighborhood on the west side of the town of Plainville is defined by two country clubs – Heather Hill and Wentworth Hills Country Club – and a generally undeveloped landscape of timberland, farms and large yards. That means residents get to enjoy rural recreation, while Plainville’s shops and eateries are a short drive away.

Homes
This pastoral part of Plainville features ranch homes cloistered on wooded acreages, as well as subdivisions of neocolonial houses built around grassy roundabouts. Given the two golf courses that bookend the north and south ends of the neighborhood, buyers should expect prices to be a bit higher than in other parts of Plainville, says Koury Signoriello, broker and owner of New World Realty who has been selling real estate in the surrounding area for more than 15 years. “People like to live on golf courses. If the homes are on a golf course, they’re in general going to be a little more expensive.” Indeed, the median sales price in Heather Hill Country Club is in the $700,000s, compared to the $500,000s in the rest of Plainville. In Heather Hill Country Club, homebuyers may be able to scoop up a three-bedroom home in the high $400,000s, but newly constructed four-bedroom houses sell for $1 million or more.
Schools
Elementary-aged kids in the neighborhood are part of the Plainville Public Schools district, but they transition to the King Philip Regional School District after sixth grade. From prekindergarten through second grade, children attend Jackson School; located about 2 miles east of the neighborhood, Jackson School gets a grade of A-minus from Niche. Third through sixth graders take classes next door at Wood School, a B-plus-rated school. After that, students head to the King Philip Regional School District, starting with B-plus-rated King Philip Regional Middle School 8 miles away. At King Philip Regional High School, graded a B-plus by Niche, teens can enroll in Advanced Placement courses to earn college credit in psychology, statistics and more.
Parks
There are plenty of excuses to get outdoors, starting with the two country clubs. Play one of the nine- or 18-hole courses kept up by the clubs, or get social and join a golf league. Swap your clubs for discs to take on the neighborhood’s Hawkins Woods Disc Golf course, 18 holes that meander through the woods. Amateur equestrians – or those looking to get back in the saddle – can sign up for riding lessons at Windfall Farm.
Shopping and Dining
Residents can take a break from outdoor recreation by heading less a mile east of the neighborhood to An Unlikely Story, a Plainville bookstore co-owned by “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” author Jeff Kinney. The shop invites patrons to browse titles in an old-timey general store aesthetic, curl up with a cappuccino at the café or visit the second floor, where yoga sessions and trivia nights are frequent occurrences. Hungry residents who aren’t interested in the café’s menu of sandwiches and salads can go a few blocks east to Chieftain Pub & Restaurant for hearty Guinness stew. When you want to whip up your own meals, it’s never more than a 5-mile drive to reach Stop & Shop supermarket in the town of North Attleborough.
Transportation
The neighborhood borders Rhode Island, so Providence is less than 20 miles away, while Boston can be reached in 40 miles. Though residents have easy access to these two cities, Signoriello says homeowners will be delighted at how much there is to do in the town of 10,000 people. “It packs a good punch for being really small.”
