Amazing parks, great schools and a convenient location

Tucked into a corner of northeast Plano, the Plano Park neighborhood is one that is attracting a lot of attention in this vibrant city 20 miles north of Dallas. “It’s very conveniently located,” says local Realtor and native Texan Drew Burgess, who has represented transactions in the area for more than a decade. “There are a lot of mature trees and landscaping, great schools and amazing parks. It’s a beautiful area.” With Highway 75 marking the neighborhood’s western border, Plano Park also affords residents easy access to that major thoroughfare for trips south to Dallas or north to McKinney.

Get outdoors

When a neighborhood’s name references parks, it stands to reason that it provides plenty of outdoor recreation, and Plano Park definitely fits that bill. Schell Park offers visitors access to two playgrounds, fields for both soccer and baseball, a picnic pavilion and access to the Santa Fe Trail, which connects with the Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, an 800-acre protected area that abuts the eastern edge of Plano Park and provides nearly 13 miles of trails that wind their way through the preserve. The pond at the center of the park is available for non-motorized watercraft like canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Shawnee Park on the western side of the neighborhood has a playground, a baseball diamond, a fishing pond with a pier, a disc golf course and a walking trail that parallels the Brown Branch of Rowlett Creek.

There is a paved walking trail around the pond at Oak Point Park for you to enjoy.
