A neighborhood with proximity to Plano amenities

One of several Plano neighborhoods established with centrality in mind, Stonehaven’s proximity to multiple Texas attractions means its residents are never far from amenities. The square-shaped neighborhood sits in an area between four major thoroughfares, less than half an hour from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and close to multiple parks. "Most of northwest Plano is fairly similar, residential areas built around small pockets of shopping," says Drew Burgess, a broker associate with the Burgess Group at Keller Williams Dallas. "There's malls closer to Plano. Most of the houses are maybe a 20-minute walk to anything like shopping areas.”

Large lots lining the streets of Stonehaven

Most of the homes in Stonehaven were built in the mid-to-late 1990s, some in the late 1980s, with many typically pricing between $500,000 and $800,000. Brick and stone facades are frequently found here, with pools and large windows the most notable flair on some properties. "Homes in Stonehaven are commonly multi-level homes and less so bungalows and ranches," Burgess says. "There's nice, large lots, maybe up to a quarter of an acre, and Plano is older, so people can get larger lots with mature landscaping." Traditional architecture is typical for the neighborhood, with sidewalks lining the streets and intersecting with pathways to the front doors of homes. Mature trees act as canopies to shade the roads here, and flowering trees and bushes add a splash of color to the landscape.

A-rated schools for students in Stonehaven

Wyatt Elementary School is where kids in Stonehaven can start their education, attending kindergarten through fifth grade at the educational institution given an A-plus by Niche. They can then move on to C.M. Rice Middle School, located right beside Russell Creek Park and scoring an A grade with Niche. Jasper High School and Plano West Senior High School both receive A-plus marks from Niche for their educational services, and students can participate in athletics like football and tennis at the latter.

Centrally-located living

"Home costs here are high largely because Plano is so close and so central," Burgess says. "It's bordered by great highways. The President George Bush Turnpike is to the south, Highway 121 to the north, Dallas North Tollway to the west and Route 75 to the east. It's really central and easy to get around." From those highways, residents can reach areas like Dallas, Frisco and Garland, and the airport is only about half an hour’s drive to the southwest.

Nearby dining and grocery options

Just minutes west sits Haywire, across the Dallas North Tollway. A popular, upscale restaurant, patrons can enjoy three floors, each with their own unique atmosphere. The first-floor whiskey bar, second-floor dining and patio on the rooftop all serve as parts of Haywire’s unique experience. Chains like Rusty Taco and Sonic are just beyond the southeastern corner of Stonehaven, while Grimaldi’s Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria offers up freshly-baked slices to pizza lovers. Groceries can be found at the nearby locations of Green Vine Market and Sprouts Farmers Market, and sweet treats are a few minutes away from Stonehaven at The Gelato Cone.

A landmark trail and parks with athletic fields

Heritage Park sits just west of Stonehaven, featuring nine baseball fields fanning out from its center. To the east, across Highland Ridge, is Russell Creek Park, a widely popular recreational area that offers a small lake, athletic fields and trails on its premises of nearly 200 acres. Residents can also cast a line in the waters of White Rock Creek to the west, trek the Legacy Trails along the creek or set out on the Preston Ridge Trail, a concrete path bisecting the neighborhood that links Plano with Dallas over a nearly-seven-mile span. During a break on the trail, its pedestrians can sit back and enjoy the sights of seasonal flowers blooming on its sides.

A pair of shopping malls a short drive away

The center of Stonehaven lies less than 10 minutes from two major upscale shopping centers. To the northwest, across the Sam Rayburn Tollway, sits Stonebriar Centre. The massive indoor mall offers more than 200 establishments within its walls to its patrons, including stores like Barnes & Noble and Dick’s Sporting Goods; eats at Great American Cookies and Sbarro; and entertainment at AMC Theatres. In the southwest direction, the Shops at Legacy and the Shops at Legacy North host an outdoor-mall shopping experience. From Benihana to Seasons 52 and from Urban Outfitters to Craft & Vine, there’s plenty of dining and retail options for visitors there. For sports lovers, less than 10 miles west sits The Star in Frisco, where Dallas Cowboys fans can see their favorite players practice.
